Win a $500 Room Makeover from Kilz

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on August 17, 2009

Remember my visit from Lisa LaPorta, of HGTV’s Designed to Sell? I know, I know, I really want to show you my bedroom makeover. It’s not quite done yet, BUT…

KILZ wants moms like you to know DIY décor projects CAN be done with minimal time and money – and starting with a coat of KILZ Clean Start primer gives you a clean slate to get the job done right. I never really knew the importance of primer, but I’m told that one coat of KILZ primer dries in less than an hour and allows for fewer top coats – saving you time and money down the road. The KILZ brand recently unveiled KILZ Clean Start primer, a zero VOC sealer and stainblocker that’s perfect for busy moms on a budget.

Guess what? KILZ is offering From Dates to Diapers readers a chance to win a $500 room makeover!

Photobucket

KILZ brand gives busy moms like you the boost they need to take on a DIY décor project. By visiting www.KILZCleanStart.com, not only can you enter to win a $500 Wal-Mart gift certificate to use for a design project of your choice, you’ll also have access to Lisa’s personal design tips, before & after room photos, and shopping list suggestions on www.KILZCleanStart.com to get you started!

Anyone can enter the contest. Here’s how:

Visit www.KILZCleanStart.com and browse Lisa’s project tips to help pick the room you want to enter for a makeover.

Click on the “WIN” tab to enter the contest in a matter of minutes – just by telling your friends which project you’d choose! You’ll be prompted to tweet your message on Twitter, and/or post your message on FromDatestoDiapers’ comments page.

Almost three years ago now, my husband started renovating our kitchen. We were without cabinets for nearly two years, and now we’re still without upper cabinets and paint. I would DESPERATELY love to makeover this room!! Thank you for alerting us to the giveaway!

I live with my son and his family and while I have access to the entire house my room is the only place that I can really make my own by inputing my own tastes and aesthetic and while it now contains furniture my son put in I would like to be able to add the little touches that would make if personal and mine and winning this would do just that.

connie September 7, 2009 at 1:36 pm

ooh definitely dining room

Taylor September 7, 2009 at 3:20 pm

I would try to do as many rooms as possible, but my main focus would probably be the dining room, because that seems to be the worst. We just moved into this house in June, and though we are renting, we’d like to make it feel a bit more like ours. The problem is, the previous tenants marked up the walls like it was going out of fashion, and I can’t seem to get any of the scuffs or stains off. The current paint is a very light flat eggshell, which is already extremely unforgiving. Add to the mix that we have a 16 month old who touches EVERYTHING and two jumpy little schnauzers, and the situation has reached critical mass. If I had any money left over I’d try to do the living room because we spend the most time there, and also my daughter’s room, because she’s never had any color walls but standard apartment white. And yes, we do have permission from our LL to repaint :D

I was just telling (well laughing too, crazy like) my husband that we have lived here for 7 years and never once touched our bedroom. We’ve worked on the whole house EXCEPT the bedroom. Its impossible ugly. One wall has a horrific border on it, well some of its ripped down. Our 2 walls have cracks going down them from settling (probably more than $500 can handle but who knows). The carpet is mauve! haha yeah mauve like it was cool in the early 90′s mauve. It’s a big space and we don’t know what to do with it or how to fix it. Before I go I have to tell you about the TV hole. The previous owners cut holes in the walls for the TV and VCR to fit in!! It’s hideous. HELP!

Melissa L September 10, 2009 at 7:38 am
