I like cookies, but I simply love cookie dough! I know I’m not supposed to eat the raw dough, but I just can’t help sneaking a spoonful, or two, here and there. Some of my kiddos have developed a love for this gooey goodness, too, but an email that I received from my friends at Nestlé, this morning, made me re-think our cookie dough eating habits.

Nestlé USA’s Baking Division is initiating a voluntary recall of Nestlé® TOLL HOUSE® refrigerated cookie dough products. Nestlé is taking this action out of an abundance of caution after being notified that the Food and Drug Administration, together with the Centers for Disease Control, are conducting an investigation into reported E. coli 0157:H7 illnesses that may be related to consumption of raw cookie dough.

Ew! Thanks for the info. I’m guilty of the one for them (cooked) one for me (raw) rule. Guess I need to lay off a bit lest I spend a little time in the ER:)
Just another reason to be making your own cookie dough. It’s much cheaper & doesn’t take very long.
I know, I love cookie dough too. I will rethink my habits too, don’t want to get E. Coli poisoning!

I JUST saw Food, Inc. Did you know that every year, 5,000 people die from food borne illnesses? Uggg… Sad that we have to be so careful when the responsibility lies with the companies.
Sure am gonna miss eating raw cookie dough with my merlot. *sigh*
