Twilight (A Giveaway!)

I know there are many Twilight fans out there… Are you one? I have yet to read the series, or see the movie, that has gals – yes, even the grown-up, mommy type – all excited. I’ve never been in to vampire stories, but I’m thinking of purchasing the books to read on my upcoming flight to Austin…
Walmart has put together a fab Twilight page, with character bites, fun polls, and even a clock counting down the seconds until the movie release!
Oooh, I have to tell you – One of my fellow ElevenMoms – my good friend Amy, of Mom Advice – will be interviewing Jacob Lautner, the actor who plays Jacob in the Twilight movie, on her Blog Talk Radio show this Monday, March 9th, at 6pm PST. If you are a Twilight fan, this is a show you do not want to miss!
And guess what else? WalMart is giving one of you a Twilight prize pack, worth $150 dollars! This ultimate package will include the Twilight DVD and a bunch of other goodies (shown below).
I also have a $25 Twilight Walmart gift card for a lucky second place winner! My daughters and I have seen the movie. My 9 year old is obessed with Twilight! The night we saw the movie she just kept saying she couldn’t get it out of her mind. She has printed numerous twilight pictures off the internet and has them all over her room. She also has them all over her school binder and talks about it so much…that everyone, including her teacher, know sabout her love for Twilight. When writing her spelling sentences, she incorporates twilight into as many sentences as possible. She just bought herself a twilight tshirt a couple weeks ago and wears it about every other day! Last night she was watching twilight music videos on utube. She is already worrying about getting the dvd THE DAY it comes out and has it written on the calendar when new moon comes out in the theater. This girl has it bad….and she would go crazy if I won this for her!

Read all the books & saw the movie.
Oh my gosh! You MUST read the books! Seriously, the MOMENT you are three chapters into the first book … you won’t be able to put it down. I read it all from 9-3 AM one Friday night. The next one all day Saturday. Had the third done on Sunday … and just HAD to slow down to make the fourth book last longer. The fourth book is the absolute best. I’m a 31 year old mom of 2. NO interest in vampire books/movies … nor do I like science fiction. I read the first book b/c I loved the story behind the book. The fact that Stephanie Meyer had a vivid dream which she felt she HAD to write down … and then it turns into a book that is published incredibly fast … I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. The Twilight series truly is a love story. It’s just perfect!
The movie didn’t do the first book justice. I still loved the movie, bought the soundtrack and will buy the movie but I don’t know … they didn’t really show HOW Edward and Bella fell in love. You learn about Bella with the things that she is thinking in the book. Not necessarily what she is saying as she has a more reserved personality. So, in the movie, you had awkward pauses … which were supposed to be there like they were in the book … but there isn’t a voice telling you what Bella was thinking at that moment. So, you miss a lot of what she is feeling/thinking about in the movie. And I didn’t like how they changed her relationship with her dad. In the book she really takes care of her father – cooks for him, cleans the house, etc. But you didn’t see any of that in the movie.
Anyway, you MUST read the books! I promise you will LOVE them. But make sure you buy all four at the same time b/c you will read them quickly!

As for Edward vs. Jacob … Edward all the way. And I have a theory about why people pick one over the other. I was talking with our babysitter about the books and she liked Jacob b/c he stands up for himself while Edward is a “pushover”. All my married friends and I are in love with Edward … WHY?? B/c he is sooo crazy about Bella that he does anything for her. Umm … see what I see? Younger girls still think they want a guy who is assertive while us married gals just want a guy who will do anything for us.
) hee, hee … and to me, Jacob is an immature WHINER. I wanted to skip over anything with him in it after awhile … but didn’t … b/c the books are better b/c he’s in it. 
) Oh, and the young guy who plays Jacob in the movie – the cutest thing EVER but what a huge casting mistake! Jacob becomes a HUGE guy in the second book! Why would they pick such a small guy to play him in the first movie when there was a big chance they would be able to make the second one into a movie too?? The second time I saw the movie I kept watching hoping they were using camera angles to make him seem smaller but nope … he’s a small guy. It will be interesting to see how they make him into the enormous man he becomes.

I like all of the characters, but Bella is probably my favorite. She reminds me a little of myself in H.S.
I have read the entire series, been to a book signing of the release of breaking dawn (won the tickets from Walmart), and have seen the movie twice! Love it! Can’t get enough! I never thought I would be so into Vampires or Werewolves!
At first I was team Jacob, but by the end of the series he got kind of annoying so I switched over to team Edward! If Bella didn’t act so much like a damsel in distress I would probably like her more.

I have a 12 year old daughter, and I read each book before she did, so I could see if there were any subjects we needed to discuss. I think Stephanie Meyer handled any sensitive subjects very well.

I just started reading the Twilight series. My daughter is a fanatical Twilight fan. I’ve seen the movie twice.

Twilight moved into my Top 5 all time favorite books! I really didn’t think I’d like the book as I am not into vampires, but I was out of things to read, picked up the book and could not put it down! It also amazes me how this book is loved by 16 year olds, 30 year olds (me) and 52 year olds (my mom)!

My friend told me about these books a couple months before Breaking Dawn came out. I read the 1st 3 in 4 days! I couldn’t put them down! Then I read Breaking Dawn in 2 days! They are great! I really hope that you read these books! You won’t be disappointed!

I am honestly a little disappointed. I have so enjoyed reading your blog but I thought you were a Christian. I really don’t see how promoting something like this is appropriate. Maybe it is just me…

I haven’t read the books yet, and I haven’t seen the movie either. I know, I’m behind the times. I am waiting to borrow the books from a friend, and then I know I will be hooked. I hope I can still enter the contest.
I just finished the last book this past week and I’m anxiously awaiting the DVD since we didn’t see it when it was in the theaters. I missed out on the whole Harry Potter mania and I was determined not to be lost in left field when Twilight began to get popular. I’m so glad I did!

Read all 4 novels in less than 2 weeks! =) Re-read Twilight after seeing the movie on the big screen this past January. Just finished re-reading New Moon. Starting to re-read Eclipse. I can’t seem to put these books down!

I have read each book twice and the movie two times also. I first read twighlight last summer at the beach and had to get New Moon right away. I walked two miles down the boardwalk to the nearest bookstore when it was almost a hundred degrees out!!
