Definitely NOT us!
As we were pulling out of our parking spot today, leaving church, our good friend comes running wildly towards our car, yelling “STOP”….
WE LEFT OUR BABY IN THE ATRIUM OF OUR CHURCH!!
How could we be such horrible parents? I am beside myself with shame and humiliation for forgetting my child!
Fortunately Noah will never remember that his parents almost left him at church, but I always will….
Ugggh!!
Okay, so it wasn’t really that bad – Noah was asleep and safe, with Phil and Cami. (Thanks, guys!) Besides, we hadn’t actually left church yet, and never would have made it very far without him. But, still….
This isn’t actually the first time that I’ve done one of my kiddos wrong, just this week!
The other night we were all having a nice sushi dinner with Phil and Cami. (hmmm.) Ben started squirming in his booster seat, and one of the lovely servers came over and was telling him to be careful – You know, kind of looking at me to take care of him. (nice, huh?)
Yeah well, because my kiddos sit in boosters quite often and hardly ever fall, I told her that he was okay, and continued eating (yes, and talking).
No sooner than I put another bite in my mouth, Buddy Boo FELL OUT OF HIS CHAIR, right on his face. I jumped up, grabbed him, and sat back down to eat my humble pie.
Well, my poor baby began bleeding everywhere. Oh, and he was screaming, too… I could see the waitress telling the others, “I told her so.”
Ben was fine after a bit – He did manage to only escape with fat lips and a sore nose.
But I think I’m scarred!
Please tell me I’m not the only one who has been so horrible. It will make me feel better, somehow, I’m sure!

I was on a bus in Turkey traveling between cities. My 4 yr old daughter got up to sit by her dad, fell and cut her face. Nothing like a bunch of old Turkish men giving you dirty looks and muttering about your parenting in Turkish!
Well we actually go to your same church and guess what! Not only did we forget our child at church we didn’t realize it till both my husband and I were at home. He said “Where is Chris?” I thought he was kidding! HE WASN’T! Luckily a neighbor had him in her car bringing him home! He is old enough to remember and I won’t ever forget it, he won’t, let me! You are not alone!
And try this one on for size. How about giving your own kid a black eye!!! It was Mothers Day about 4 years ago. My parents were over and we had BBQed ribs. My 2nd oldest was running around our small house at the time and my mom told ME to be careful cause I was holding a plate of ribs passing them out. Me be careful? Ha whatever mom! Well Christopher, the one I spoke of above was around my ankles and I kind of spun around and felt the plate come in contact with something really hard! My heart stopped as I hear my mother go “OH AUSTIN!”. I look down and there is my 4 year old in a heap on the floor mouth wide open not breathing for a second then comes the scream! My mom looked at me and just went “Hmph… On mothers day no less!”
Oh look close at our GS picture when they come out, Chris has a black eye in that! LOL I didn’t do it I promise!
Oh that is NOT bad! At least you left Noah in a good place!
besides don’t you have a bus full of them anyways? te heeee!!
Hello…. Terri Jade this summer….road rash was completely by mommies negligence!
BIG HUGS!!!!!
Ah, think of all the things you didn’t do wrong. You didn’t set your toddler on your lap while driving, you didn’t shave your head and skip out of rehab early, you didn’t…need I go on?
One time. . .i was nursing my youngest and realized that it was way too quiet in the house. I began to look for my 16 month old and couldn’t find him. THe door bell rang. . a neighbor found him outside. . .across the street!!!! From that day on i have kept all the doors to the outside locked. I felt so bad i bawled in front of this neighbor of whom I had never met. I’m sure she thought I was a horrible mom!
we were out of town leading a youth trip. My husband is the youth pastor. Well I got of the bus with the kids and left our new born son with my husband to go park the bus. As I got of the bus I said ” don’t forget our son” My husband said. “Vanessa I am not going to forget him” So you see were this is going. So since the bus was big he had to park in another parking lot. Well he came walking in the hotel with no baby. I thought he muct be playing a joke on me. Well, NOT. He had left the baby on the bus. I thought I would never get to that bus. We all do crazy things. I thank God for looking after us.
