Being on camera is something I love to do. Feeling the lights on my face, with cameras surrounding me, makes me feel… giddy. Bring my family or a couple of my friends onto the set and I’m a happy girl. Add good food and it just makes for a really good time.
This week I had the privilege of working with Lunchbox Studios, Nestlé, and a couple of good friends to create a fun video for Nestlé’s micro site on Walmart.com. Erika, Aracely and I found ourselves eating and gabbing all day long.
What did we eat and why? Well, we got to try over a dozen brand new items from Nestlé – pizza, casseroles, ice cream, and more. The idea was to capture our real, initial reactions to these new products. It was a long day, and none of us wanted to see another morsel of food when we were finished, but we all had a blast!

Looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a family? Well, how about celebrating this day enjoying a yummy ice cream cake with the ones you love? That’s exactly what I plan to do with my family, and perhaps we will even make it a new family tradition!
Baskin-Robbins has amazing cakes – we have enjoyed many! But for this holiday, they have introduced three new delicious cakes to celebrate:
Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Ice Cream Cake - Made with layers of Very Berry Strawberry and Chocolate ice cream, the 6-inch fully decorated round is frosted with rich chocolate-flavored whipped topping, topped with a strawberry glaze and features a customized love note. Serves up to 8; $19.99.
Sweetheart Ice Cream Cake – A sweet and simple way to say “I love you,” the Sweetheart cake is ¼-round and dotted with adorable mini red icing hearts, a red chocolate heart and a single red rose. Serves up to 8, $12.99.
Double Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cake – Perfect for chocolate lovers – a fully decorated 9-inch round cake, featuring Chocolate Chip ice cream over Devil’s Food cake, frosted with chocolate flavored whipped topping and borders, and finished with a rich chocolate ganache glaze. Serves up to 16; $29.99.
YUM!!
Baskin-Robbins sent me gift certificates to purchase a cake to enjoy with my family for Valentine’s Day, in exchange for this post.

On Friday some of my best friends and I spent the entire afternoon doing one of our favorite things – baking! Eggland’s Best sponsored this fabulous baking party and we even had door prizes! We made Quiche, Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cookies and homemade ice cream, all with Eggland’s Best eggs. (See recipes below.)
QUICHE
Line pie pan with pie dough and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Layer with grated cheese, sauteed spinach, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onions and diced tomatoes. Pour mixture of 6 Eggland’s Best eggs and 1/4 cup milk. Bake at 375º for 45 minutes.
VANILLA ICE CREAM
Beat 2 Eggland’s Best eggs in a large bowl until thick and lemon-colored (about 5 minutes). Add 1 cup sugar and beat until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes). Stir in 2 3/4 cup half & half, 1 tablespoon vanilla and 1 cup whipping cream and pour in to ice cream canister. Follow manufacturer’s directions. Makes 2 quarts.

What do the Youngs do to keep cool on a hot summer day? We go to Sonic for ice cream, of course!
Last Sunday was particularly sweltering, with the mercury rising over 100. It didn’t seem quite so hot, though, when noshing on Sonic Blast’s made with real delicious ice cream and chunks of Reese’s, Snicker’s, Butterfinger and Oreo. Yes, we ordered at least one of each. You should have seen the kiddos’ eyes when our server brought them all out on her rollerskates!
Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? Well, instead of teasing you with details about our ice cream experience, I’d love to offer you some goodies from Sonic, so you can celebrate with some ice cream of your own!
Leave me a comment telling me about your favorite ice cream concoction and I will choose three winners. One grand prize winner will receive a $50 MySonic Card and two second prize winners will each win a SONIC lunch box that contains a “Keep it Real” ice cream t-shirt, a $5 MySonic Card and a few other fun goodies.
Winners will be randomly chosen at 9pm (pst) on July 31st and notified by email.
