I know that I’ve mentioned before that I very much dislike to cook, but did you know that I have always loved to make sweet treats? When I was about nine-years-old, my sister and I made cookies and pies that were the talk of the town. Around the holidays we started a little business, and with the help of our Mom, we were quite successful!
Then, when I was around twelve, my Mom arranged for my sister and I to take private cake decorating lessons from one of the owners, and chief cake decorator, at a local Baskin-Robbins. Oh boy, did I have a blast! I learned how to make flowers and do simple piping, among so many other techniques.
My kiddos and I now love to watch shows like Cake Boss, Ultimate Cake Off and Ace of Cakes. I marvel at the intricacy and design of each one, and just imagine making beautiful cakes like theirs.
I’ve decorated most of my kiddos’ birthday cakes, and it has killed me when I have been unable to make a special one. They are oohed and aahed over, every single time, but I aspire to be better. I am so bummed that I can’t find a single picture of any of my creations, but I have to tell you that I’ve made a robot, a train, flowers, a frog pond {this was by far my favorite of all}, a giant cupcake {like the one pictured}, and more… All with the help of Wilton.
In fact, Wilton recently sent me a box-full of goodies and I’ve been having so much fun. My late night pregnancy cravings have been satisfied, thanks to some of these goodies, and our sweet Spring gardens were baked in the new UltraGold bakeware.
I borrowed this picture from www.mywoodenspoon.com, since Lori and I received the same package. (Thanks Lori!)
This year marks 35 years of The Wilton Method of Cake Decorating and Wilton has some great things happening. To help mark this special occasion Wilton is sponsoring a fabulous giveaway here at From Dates to Diapers – a box of Wilton goodies, like the one I received, with a retail value of approximately $180.00! {They’ve included a set of UltraGold baking pans, sparkle gels, tubed icings, sprinkles, and more!} All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment here, before 9pm on May 15th, and you’ll be entered.
I’d love to hear about your adventures with creating sweet treats!
Benefited giveaway.

We always make all of our own sweets at home. From Birthday cakes to Christmas goodies. As my children get older they are also learning to bake with me.
My two oldest sneaked into the kitchen and made me a B-Day cake last year. It was lopsided with lots and lots of crumbs and almost all the words misspelled but it was the best and sweetest b-day cake that I have ever received and I loved it.
I can just imagine what all we could create with this.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

My daughter and her best girlfriend made a used a Wilton cake pan to make a Cabbage Patch doll cake–it kept them busy for several hours.
For every holiday or event, all the kids on the block (and there are over 15 of them!)get together and decorate cupcakes…we find them really easy to work with and the kids just have so much fun. This prize pack would so perfect for our neighborhood events!
I would love to win this-I love creating Wilton cakes
My kids and and I love to bake together! We have lots of fun finding new recipes for sweet treats! We just finished chocolate-dipped peanut butter candy! They especially love to decorate anything we bake! Even ketchup on hamburger buns gets put on “creatively”!
I remember yrs. back making some swell baked cut-out cookies for my Halloweeners. Cutout Pumpkin shape cookies with raisins for eyes and nuts for teeth and a creamy rich orange frosting. These were just great tasting and cute to look at too.

I would love these. the pans I have are all hand me downs from relatives, it would be great to have something new to bake with my kids!
Honestly, I’m not a very good baker. I can bake with box mixes but that’s about it. I’d love to win this so at least my goodies will look fabulous!
My family and I would have a great time making cupcakes with this.
My Aunt Cathy was the cake decorater in the family. She made me princess cakes, Barbie, and Cabbage Patch, not to mention her contributions for our Browine Troop Mother Daughter Teas. I have kept it pretty simple but these product would have me expanding my cakes in no time.
I am not very artistic, so most of my cakes are of the pound cake variety, but looks like there are some things in this kit that could expand my horizons a tad.
What an awesome giveaway! I could certainly use some new pans for baking. This would inspire me to bake even more!

Sweet!
If I were lucky enough to win this, I’d give it to my daughter. She loves to bake and decorate cakes and could really use this.
I love to bake and just got married so I could really use this!
I would love to win this, I use to decorate all of our cakes, My Mom and I took a class together. Our neighbors loved us because we each had to bring our own cake to decorate, and we had plenty left over. But that was a long long time ago, and now I have a Granddaughter and would love to start teaching her how to do it along with my own daughter. I don’t have any of the things I had before, this would be a great start on my way to picking cake decorating up again and pass down a Family tradition.

With the use of old fashioned round cake pans (doubt they were Wilson) I managed to create a giant ice cream heart shaped cake as a token of my love for my “now” huband. I borrowed the neighbors chest freezer to work on it and it took me 3 days to complete – we had a huge bbq the weekend of Valentines day and I presented it to him then, many were impressed but my now husband wanted to know what the big deal was making it – needless to say, that was his last cake of appreciation!
I haven’t done much decorating of cakes. Just basic frosting and writing on the cake
Thanks for the giveaway!
This is amazing – I have to admit I keep eyeing classes to learn cake decorating!
