Summer Essentials — Bloggy Giveaway #4

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on July 30, 2008

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingVery rarely do I, as a lone adult, take all six of my kiddos to the pool to swim. If I were an octopus it might not be so bad, but I just don’t have enough arms to feel safe by myself with my babies at the pool.

I do, however, recruit invite my unsuspecting very good friends to join us, quite often. (They know I love hanging out with them!) We can spend hours at the pool as long as we have everything we need – plenty of Huggies Little Swimmers (you never know when you may need a new one), sunscreen, pool toys, water, and snacks!

It’s amazing to me how long my kiddos can play in the water… For hours they will splash, float, swim, dive, and play. Fun at the pool never seems to grow old. I don’t mind… I seem to get a nice tan every summer!

Swim pants are a requirement for babies at our community pool, but every so often I will see an unhappy little one with a saggy diaper… Not only does it look incredibly uncomfortable, but it’s kind of gross, too.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You know what? You can get Huggies Little Swimmers coupons directly to your email box. Just visit littleswimmers.com and you’ll be saving $$ on the best swim pants (and cutest hats –>) available!

In honor of the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival going on right now, Huggies is giving one From Dates to Diapers readers a “Summer Essentials Kit,” complete with Huggies Little Swimmers swim pants, sun screen, sun sensors and some beach toys!

Here’s how to enter:

  • Leave a comment here, telling me about one item you don’t go to the pool without. This will earn you one entry.
  • For an optional entry, post a link to this giveaway and mention Huggies Little Swimmers, on your blog. Leaving me the url to your post will earn you an entry.
  • For an optional entry, you can subscribe to my blog
I always have tons of fun stuff going on and would love for you to know about it. Make sure you leave me a separate comment to tell me you subscribed to qualify for an entry.
  • 1 winner will be chosen at random on August 8th at 9pm (PST). The winners will be notified via email, so make sure you leave a valid email address in your comment.

We don’t go to the pool without . . .sunscreen! If it’s outside. If it’s indoors, we pretty much stick to the basics, like towels. :~)

Hello! Not entering because I have enough of all of that stuff now, but just wanted to comment my agreement. I have not been brave enough to take my three boys (ages 3, 5, and 3 months) out in the pool by myself yet…though today my husband took the little one and I took the two older ones. The middle child is still potty training so I MEANT to put a swim diaper on them, but the swim diapers are the same color as the Overnights and I put an Overnight Pull-up on him by mistake! He looked like a balloon had been blown up in his swim-trunks, poor kiddo! Luckily I had an extra swimmer packed to change into!

We never go without sunblock! It’s a must have every time.

I never ever go to the pool without a book. I don’t have to keep much of an eye on my daughter she’s 12, swims well, and heck that’s what my taxes pay the lifeguards for right? So I’m quite happy keeping my nose in a book, and glancing around every 10 minutes or so just to see if my kid is at the first aid station or any time I hear “Mom” called out in a female voice (okay so maybe that’s more than every ten minutes, but I get a chapter read or so most days!)

We never go to the pool or beach without sunscreen – and towels. And plenty of Little Swimmers right now for Becca – those things are awesome! :)

Adding this one to my Contests page over at the review site.

I agree with the others…we don’t go without sunscreen! I’ve got two redheads, and we reapply, reapply, reapply.

#2 item, extra swimmies for the baby. You just never know when she’s gonna do what she needs to do!

We also bring lots of water for the kiddos and the mama, and my shades.

I also love to bring a few coins…the kids love to toss them in the pool and then dive for them.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. I worked as a lifeguard on the beach for years and I saw too many bad sunburns and too many of my co-workers with skin cancer to risk my babies.

Reply

Heather July 31, 2008 at 5:26 am

I would say sunscreen, but that wouldn’t be truthful because I have forgotten twice this summer. I definitely don’t forget the floaties. My little guy loves wearing them because that means Mommy doesn’t have to hold him. We can just swim together.
