Smooshies (a giveaway!)

Smooshies are a fun way to inspire imagination during your kiddos’ play time. These colorful, plush toys are award winning, having received the 2009 Creative Child Preferred Choice Award and Dr. Toy Best Vacation Children’s Product for 2009!

You may be wondering, “What are Smooshies?”

Well, with Smooshies your kiddos can create anything they can imagine, with plush parts – a friend, a monster, a dog, a robot, or an alien from another planet. They simply choose a body, arms, legs, facial features, even antennae or wings, and attach them wherever they like. Easy Velcro tabs allow kids to create and recreate unique characters, mixing and matching all the body parts, in an infinite number of ways. When they’re done, they just pull the pieces off and start all over again!

As you can see, even my older kiddos had fun creating their own “monsters”! Check it out ::

If we are reading I always ask how they think it might end. I find questions along the way no matter what your doing gets the mind going

We think of unconventional ways to use items around the house. When we read a book we add our own details to the stories.

We do lots of crafts where I just give them a blank “canvas” and let them do whatever they desire on it.

Creativity in my house is a must. I encourage them to imagine things daily. From Fairy Houses, to rock collecting, to making “coffee-dough”, we have a blast. The best creativity we have seeked, however, is taking them out geocaching. They get to see things that have been there all along, nature, art, serenity, historic places and markers. AND they get to search for they’re “treasure” while hunting. It’s an amazing experience.

BTW- I LOVE the “smooshies!” I am in LOVE. I had a major flashback to my very favorite toy as a child, my pink pillow-person. I love it! :) Thanks. I miss that….

We use objects around the house to made different things. Empty toilet tissue tubes become binoculars, foil tubes become telescopes, cardboard boxes become cars. We also make a fort out of an old sheet and some chairs. A small blanket becomes a cape and newspaper can be folded to make a great pirate hat. There are endless possibilities with a little imagination.

I let my kids make sock puppets with whatever material and objects lying around the house. Then they put on a play. :)

Instead of a bunch of coloring books that encourage ‘coloring in the lines,’ we more often use blank white paper for coloring. I’m always amazed at what they think up to draw!

My littlest is really into animals and the sounds they make. We would make as many animal faces as we could. Maybe and owl or a tiger to start!

Wow, Smooshies look like fun!

Honestly, with my boys I don’t really have to do much to encourage imagination they just do it! I love nothing more than watching them play and pretend. Even if my 22 month old is pushing a meatball around his plate saying “vroom, vroom.”

Lots of Pretending…actually becoming the the dinosaur, or creature or critter or whatever we are pretending….
We found a big pile of sand by the sand volleyball court and we bury something small and then draw a circle around the small area where it is hidden. Then we try to find it. Whenever we find it we say the same expression every time. They love it.

I try to buy toys that require no batteries. I put some wooden block, little people, animals and small cars in a box. It’s my younger kids favorite toy. They like making buildings and then using the cars to knock them down. They also make zoos and houses for the people.

I don’t have kids but when I spend time with my nieces and nephews our favorite thing is to read to them just the first half of the story or invent the beginning of one and than we either talk about what could happen in another half and how they think it will end or they draw, paint, sculpt etc. the plot and the ending! We always have so much fun :)
