Smooshies are a fun way to inspire imagination during your kiddos’ play time. These colorful, plush toys are award winning, having received the 2009 Creative Child Preferred Choice Award and Dr. Toy Best Vacation Children’s Product for 2009!
You may be wondering, “What are Smooshies?”
Well, with Smooshies your kiddos can create anything they can imagine, with plush parts – a friend, a monster, a dog, a robot, or an alien from another planet. They simply choose a body, arms, legs, facial features, even antennae or wings, and attach them wherever they like. Easy Velcro tabs allow kids to create and recreate unique characters, mixing and matching all the body parts, in an infinite number of ways. When they’re done, they just pull the pieces off and start all over again!
As you can see, even my older kiddos had fun creating their own “monsters”! Check it out ::

by giving them boxes and such and letting them have fun however they choose.
If we are reading I always ask how they think it might end. I find questions along the way no matter what your doing gets the mind going
by having them think of different things to do mverno@roadrunner.com
We think of unconventional ways to use items around the house. When we read a book we add our own details to the stories.

We do lots of crafts where I just give them a blank “canvas” and let them do whatever they desire on it.
Creativity in my house is a must. I encourage them to imagine things daily. From Fairy Houses, to rock collecting, to making “coffee-dough”, we have a blast. The best creativity we have seeked, however, is taking them out geocaching. They get to see things that have been there all along, nature, art, serenity, historic places and markers. AND they get to search for they’re “treasure” while hunting. It’s an amazing experience.
BTW- I LOVE the “smooshies!” I am in LOVE. I had a major flashback to my very favorite toy as a child, my pink pillow-person. I love it!
Thanks. I miss that….
FB fan.
We use objects around the house to made different things. Empty toilet tissue tubes become binoculars, foil tubes become telescopes, cardboard boxes become cars. We also make a fort out of an old sheet and some chairs. A small blanket becomes a cape and newspaper can be folded to make a great pirate hat. There are endless possibilities with a little imagination.
I let my kids make sock puppets with whatever material and objects lying around the house. Then they put on a play.
Instead of a bunch of coloring books that encourage ‘coloring in the lines,’ we more often use blank white paper for coloring. I’m always amazed at what they think up to draw!
Lately we’ve been playing “animal kingdom” and pretending to be different animals.
I’m a FB fan.
I find a pen or crayon and paper to be the best way to get my kids’ creativity going.
My littlest is really into animals and the sounds they make. We would make as many animal faces as we could. Maybe and owl or a tiger to start!
I always give my boys large boxes and blankets. They spend hours making forts.
We make up silly songs and funny stories everday. Its fun to be creative!
We go outside and make up games. We also change the ending on stories we read.
I allow my kids imaginations to run wild. I allow them to find creativity in everything they do, especially play doh!!! What a great way to get their minds to expand into anything they can make.
Facebook fan now!
I spent a lot of time with my children playing house or tea party. My daughter loves to pretend I am the child and she is mom .
WE also pretend to camp in our living room in a tent.. and make some-morez in our microwave..
and we create bugs out of egg cartoons..
I added your button to my sidebar on my blog:

I get the extra roll of unused paper from our hometown newspaper, unroll it to any length and away goes their imagination!
Many thanks, Cindi

We use everyday household items as toys. It’s amazing what a bowl becomes to a 15 month old!
My kids love to make “projects” instead of getting craft type things, I give them a bunch of supplies and let them create.
We pretend to go on adventures to different places.

Wow, Smooshies look like fun!
Honestly, with my boys I don’t really have to do much to encourage imagination they just do it! I love nothing more than watching them play and pretend. Even if my 22 month old is pushing a meatball around his plate saying “vroom, vroom.”
Lots of Pretending…actually becoming the the dinosaur, or creature or critter or whatever we are pretending….
We found a big pile of sand by the sand volleyball court and we bury something small and then draw a circle around the small area where it is hidden. Then we try to find it. Whenever we find it we say the same expression every time. They love it.
we do a lot of arts and crafts toghether
I am now a fan on facebook!
support them in any way, our little ones love to play dress up, if one want to be a princess, we find different things around the house to make her into a princess.

I try to buy toys that require no batteries. I put some wooden block, little people, animals and small cars in a box. It’s my younger kids favorite toy. They like making buildings and then using the cars to knock them down. They also make zoos and houses for the people.
We create and put on plays together! Thanks!
We take household scraps–paper towel tubes, fabric, empty containers–and make new toys out of them.

I have a box of felt, colored papers, glue, glitter etc. that we use for art & crafts. I think making things is the best way to encourage imagination!
I read a book every day to my little grandson then I have him draw the story in pictures.
We play Bratz dolls and Barbies.
He’s two and we pretend to eat and sleep, and we have his animals do these things as well and we have them interact with eachtoehr.
They build with Lego’s and make airplanes, boats and rockets. I let them tell me what it is and I ask for details about it.
I give my daughter toys that have no batteries, instead I let her draw or build items out of blocks to encourage imagination!
We play restaurant all the time~It teaches the grandchildren about money and counting!
They build with Lego’s
We enjoy playing barbies!
we encourage creativity by limiting tv and video game time. more time outside playing and playing with toys that encourage creativity.

I don’t have kids but when I spend time with my nieces and nephews our favorite thing is to read to them just the first half of the story or invent the beginning of one and than we either talk about what could happen in another half and how they think it will end or they draw, paint, sculpt etc. the plot and the ending! We always have so much fun
