Why wait until Black Friday? It’s time to start shopping those Holiday sales now!
Borders makes finding the perfect toy or game easier for those of you who are looking for high-quality educational gifts. In fact, this week when you shop at Borders, in their new Toys and Games section, you’ll receive $10 off a purchase of $20 or more! Shelves are stocked with items from leading brands like Creativity for Kids, Thinkfun, Scientific Explorer, ALEX and Blue Orange Games.

Last week I had a chance to spend some time in Borders, browsing their new Toys and Games department. Yes, I went alone! And, boy did I have fun. I picked up some great items for the kids and an Entertainment Book (thanks, Borders!) and saved a ton.

There really are some great deals…. I received the Bionicle pictured here for FREE, because I purchased $25 worth of items from the game section. I received a $5 gift card for purchasing the Entertainment Book. The Melissa & Doug toys were buy one, get one at 50% off. AND the games were buy two, get one free! These deals were available last week, but I’m sure there are some great ones this week, as well!
Guess what? I have TWO $100 Border’s gift cards to give some very lucky readers who are ready to shop!
Here’s what you have to do to enter:
- Visit Borders Toys & Games and leave me a comment, before Monday, November 30th at 9pm (pst), telling me about the toy or game you most remember playing with and why it would be good choice for kids today.
- Tweet about this giveaway, using the hashtag #D2Dgvwy, as many times as you like before next Tuesday night, and leave me a separate comment for each tweet.
Two winners will be selected at random, each to receive a $100 Borders gift card, and emailed.

Well, there weren’t any toys there that I played with as a child but I do like the Pirates in the Tub – sounds like fun! My favorite toy as a child was the Easy Bake Oven. Thanks for the giveaway!

The outdoor adventure kit brought back some pretty strong memories of dragging a huge magnet in the soft, warm dirt around my house in Granada Hills, California. The way the iron particles clung to the horseshoe magnet seemed like magic to me at the time.

We had a lot of fun playing Monopoly. It is a good for kids to play because they learn strategy, math/money skills, and it is just plain fun.

I remember playing with PlayDoh and using it on the comic section of the paper then stretching all the things I copied onto it and it looking all funny, I think this is still a great toy for kids, you can learn from using PLayDoh in many ways I feel.

I think the Barbie game was my favorite game, it was a hand me down from my mom’s childhood and my sister and I just had a blast playing it. It disappeared when my Mom moved, but my sister found a used copy on ebay to purchase so we can keep passing it down to play through the generations!
I remember playing with a rubix cube. It kept me entertained for ours and is a great way to get kids to exercise their creativity.

psss. There is no November 31st :p my daughter would love the fashion studio art lab. And I remember playing a game called kick the can we used a ball and it was like hide n seek. I think it would be great exercise for my daughter to play it.
I remember playing bingo with my older brothers and sisters–to teach me to recognizing my numbers and to think quickly—my son is just learning his numbers this would be perfect for him.

I never got into dolls since I only had brothers growing up, but I fondly remember my parents getting us a Monopoly game from a garage sale and we would play that game for hours! My mom thought is was one of her best investments…. it kept us occupied!

I remember playing clue. I think it’s still an excellent game because it helps kids think logically! Plus, the game pieces were so much fun!
My fave game for a long time was Hungry Hungry Hippos. But honestly, I don’t think it has many redeeming qualities, so it’s probably not such a good choice for kids today. I think I liked it mostly because it drove my parents nuts with how noisy it was, ha ha….

I didn’t see it on their site but I remember playing with the lite brite the most when I was little. I think it could help kids today with their imagination. They could make any kind of design they come up with. Thank you!
I really liked playing Memory as a kid, and think the Dinosaurs! match game looks like a fun version of that.
I remember playing with licoln logs as a child. They’re great for hand/eye coordination!
