Shoes

shoes

I must find and secure 6 pairs of shoes any time we leave the house, not to mention a pair for my feet…

But, why is it that we can never find the right shoes, especially when we’re in a hurry?

We can find one shoe, but not the other. The shoes that don’t fit, but never the ones that do. The shoes that tie, only when we’re late and need the ones that slip on. Boots when we need flip-flops. Sandals when we need tennis shoes.

Shoes.

They are like the mysterious socks that lose their mates in the dryer, never to be found again.

Perhaps feet were meant to be bare…

SO, SO true!!! I have 4 kids, and we are constantly looking for shoes. My youngest (she just turned 2) is notorious for trying on shoes and then hiding/loosing them. We have a rack that sits next to the front door. When we come it, we are suppose to put them on the rack, then (in theory) they are suppose to be there when we need them next….. doesn’t always happen, but it makes it a LITTLE easier to find our shoes. ;-)

OMG, I totally feel your pain, although I’d include Luke and my own shoes as well. I swear there’s a shoe monster in our hall closet that hoards random shoes.

From a professional organizing and mama of three boys point of view- you have too darn many pairs to choose from. Keep one “put on as we are on the way out the door” pair per child in a basket by the door and the rest should be kept in their room (closet, etc.)

good luck =)

These changed my life. Literally. The best fourteen (for 2) bucks I’ve ever spent. It’s the little things…

My kids get few shoes and they keep them until they absolutely no longer fit. Then again, I only have two kids – your pile must be monumental! I got myself a big old bench that opens and it sits on our porch – the shoes go in there. Out of sight! I guess you can remind yourself that when they are all out of the home…you’ll miss all those shoes! Right? :)

The only shoes I can ever find are the ones my daughter has torn half the beads off of. I hate it.

Ha, nice. I may return for a dose of off-the-wall mom and dad advice. It’s a bit different to my usual stop off for parenting ideas.

BINS! BINS! BINS! Every family member has there own shoe bin near the entrance of our home. They toss there shoes in there. If the bins are too full we give some away to goodwill. Sometimes we get a stray shoe that migrates to anothers bin but for the most part it’s tidy and we can find matching shoes. (and of course training them to do so helps) THis has solved my past problem of never finding matching shoes.

I SOOO know what you mean about missing shoes… happened to me earlier when I was getting ready to walk out the door.

A little random… but… my cousin was the “Sock-muda Triangle” for Halloween! You know… where all those lost socks end up! ;)

We have 6 kids together in my home. There is only 1 kid out of the 6 that usually knows where their shoes are! It drives me crazy to go on shoe hunts right before it’s time to leave. I try to have the kids keep them by the door. It doesn’t always work though.
