Find your way the easy way! (A Giveaway)

Friday, September 5, 2008

I am directionally challenged, to say the least. I have no idea, at any given time, which way is north and which way is south. For a long while I begged and pleaded with my husband to help me find a way to include the luxury of purchasing a GPS system into our budget, to no avail. We joked about Ray being my personal GPS guide, since I would call him any time I got lost or just couldn't find my way. He always knew exactly where I was and how to get to where I wanted to go.

Magellen, however, came to my rescue with the RoadMate 1212. I don't have to call Ray from the road, in desperation, because I don't go anywhere without this baby! As far as GPS systems go, this one is pretty affordable, and is amazingly easy to use. You can see your position on the interactive map, plus distance to the next turn, distance to destination, estimated time of arrival, street names and more, all at a glance. The simple touch-screen menu presents easy options, and voice guidance offers worry-free driving, with spoken turn-by-turn directions, so you can keep your eyes on the road.

With it's split-screen capability and SayWhere text-to-speech, the Magellan RoadMate 1212 is fun and easy to use. So far I've used it to find my way to a new doctor's office, I've found the closest Pei Wei to my then-current destination, and even discovered a quicker way to get downtown. If I ever miss a turn because I'm yelling at talking to one of my kiddos, my new friend will automatically re-route... How's that for nice?

Did I mention it is easy to use? Okay, I did.

How about that you can win one? Yep, you will have the chance to win a Magellan RoadMate 1212 of your very own!

Here's how to enter:

  • Leave me a comment on this post, before 9pm (pacific) on September 30th, with your best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) LOST story. Now, I don't want any stories about that popular TV show... I want real stories about a time when you were really lost.
  • For an extra entry in the random drawing, feel free to subscribe to my blog feed , but make sure you leave me a separate comment saying you did.
  • A single commenter, chosen at random, will win a Magellen RoadMate 1212. The winner will be notified via email, so make sure you leave a valid email address in your comment.
Good luck!

Flip for Family Fun!

Sunday, August 24, 2008

In anticipation of the launch of Wal-Mart's Money Saving Community and their BIG video contest, Pure Digital and Wal-Mart have given each of us Money Saving Moms a sleek Flip Ultra to give to our readers. I thought it would be fun to ask you all to help me in exchange for a chance to win, in hopes that your ideas inspire some new and creative things to do, with my kiddos, without breaking the bank!

You see, family nights around here are always so much fun... Sometimes we go out to dinner with the kiddos, or we'll just stay in and play games or watch a movie. Keeping costs low is a must when you have a big family, and I fear that we have run out of fresh ideas of things to do on our special family nights. I need your help!

So, this is what you'll need to do to be entered to win the Flip video camera:

Leave a comment with a creatively unique idea for a Young family fun night. Ideas must include a yummy after-dinner snack and an activity to keep us busy for at least 1 hour. Remember that all of our six children are under the age of 8.

Ideas may include in or outside activities, but you must provide a detailed description of your snack and activity. If I don't get a clear picture of what you are telling me we should munch on and do, your entry will be disqualified.

Ready for the hard part? The materials for our family fun night, including snacks, must not cost us any more than $20 and must be available at Wal-Mart stores. A list of needed material would be helpful, but is not required in your entry.

Just a few more details:

  • The winner of the Flip will be notified via email, so make sure you leave a valid email address in your comment.
  • Multiple entries will be accepted, but each entry must be a new idea!
  • Only US residents are eligible to win.
The one to post the most unique family fun night activity idea, by following the above guidelines, will win the Flip Ultra! The winner and winning idea will be announced in a very fun way on September 3rd 5th.... You won't want to miss it!

No more entries are being accepted. I must now choose a winner. You've made it all very hard for me!

Summer Essentials -- Bloggy Giveaway #4

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingVery rarely do I, as a lone adult, take all six of my kiddos to the pool to swim. If I were an octopus it might not be so bad, but I just don't have enough arms to feel safe by myself with my babies at the pool.

I do, however, recruit invite my unsuspecting very good friends to join us, quite often. (They know I love hanging out with them!) We can spend hours at the pool as long as we have everything we need - plenty of Huggies Little Swimmers (you never know when you may need a new one), sunscreen, pool toys, water, and snacks!

It's amazing to me how long my kiddos can play in the water... For hours they will splash, float, swim, dive, and play. Fun at the pool never seems to grow old. I don't mind... I seem to get a nice tan every summer!

Swim pants are a requirement for babies at our community pool, but every so often I will see an unhappy little one with a saggy diaper... Not only does it look incredibly uncomfortable, but it's kind of gross, too.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You know what? You can get Huggies Little Swimmers coupons directly to your email box. Just visit littleswimmers.com and you'll be saving $$ on the best swim pants (and cutest hats -->) available!

In honor of the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival going on right now, Huggies is giving one From Dates to Diapers readers a “Summer Essentials Kit,” complete with Huggies Little Swimmers swim pants, sun screen, sun sensors and some beach toys!

Here's how to enter:
  • Leave a comment here, telling me about one item you don't go to the pool without. This will earn you one entry.
  • For an optional entry, post a link to this giveaway and mention Huggies Little Swimmers, on your blog. Leaving me the url to your post will earn you an entry.
  • For an optional entry, you can subscribe to my blog
I always have tons of fun stuff going on and would love for you to know about it. Make sure you leave me a separate comment to tell me you subscribed to qualify for an entry.

Prima Princessa - Bloggy Giveaway #1

My little Princess Ballerina flipped over Prima Princessa, the animated fairy ballerina who magically transported her to see the narrated ballet, Swan Lake. Between each act, my little Princess dances and twirls, along with the young dancers, while learning the official ballet steps, and after each performance she begs for more with her squeals of, "Encore, encore!"

This magical dance adventure would make a wonderful gift for your little ballerina. It's sure to mesmerize her, as it has mine, while it inspires and stimulates her young mind. It was created by two moms who love to have fun, so even I was thrilled with the ingenious Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake.

Oh, and don't tell them that I told you this, but even my boys were captivated!

There are TWO copies of Prima Princessa to be won by From Dates to Diapers readers!

Here's how to enter:
  • For an optional entry, post a link to this giveaway and mention Prima Princessa, on your blog. Leaving me the url to your post will earn you an entry.
  • For an optional entry, you can subscribe to my blog

chunky, chewy, rich and gooey

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe great folks at Blue Bunny found out that I love coffee ice cream (I may have mentioned somewhere that it's my favorite when mixed with a Heath Bar), so just the other day we received 5 cartons of this creamy coffee goodness!

I didn't know much about Blue Bunny ice cream before, so I did a bit of research...

Since 1913, the colossally creative artisans at Wells' Dairy, Inc.—the largest family-owned and managed dairy processor in the United States—have been hard at work putting all things chunky, chewy, rich and gooey into their ice cream. Today, ice cream aficionados throughout all 50 states, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, can choose from nearly 500 tantalizingly tasty Blue Bunny ice cream flavors, frozen dairy desserts and delectable novelties!

I remember mixing together the ingredients for fresh ice cream, as a little girl, and enjoying a big bowl after the agonizing wait ... There is just something about homemade ice cream on a hot summer day, especially if it's made with fresh strawberries!
