I have a story about my mother-in-law, Ruth, that cracks me up every time I think of it...
One evening my husband and I were sitting in the kitchen, talking to my in-laws about television shows, and what channels we usually watch. My husband, who is usually a big fan of the History channel and the like, mentioned that he knew I would be content just to watch Nick at Nite. My mother-in-law, thinking he had expressed his interest in this particular station, then proceeded to verbally reprimand Ray about the shows he chooses to watch and told him that he needed to be careful, especially with children in the house. Ray and I couldn't understand why Ruth was getting so upset, but finally discovered that she thought he said "naked night"!!! We were in tears, from laughing so hard!

Why is hand-crafted jewelry the best??? Well, it could be because of the creative talent involved in making it. Or, it could be because of the uniqueness of each individual piece.
I like to believe that hand-made jewelry is the best, because it was made just for me!!

Lori's Three Bead Killer is my newest favorite! Check out the picture above and you'll see why!

Nesting Pillow

Saturday, July 21, 2007

Winner Has Been Selected...
Can you believe that I won this wonderful prize?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Baby Talkers is having a contest, and there are FIVE ways to enter to win this fabulous Nesting Pillow from Blessed Nest.
Hurry over and check out the details.
Contest ends on July 21st.

As I think about my favorite breastfeeding moment I am taken back to each of my baby's births. Holding them and cuddling each of them for the first time brings back such wonderful memories of joy and hapiness. Fortunately, I was able to breastfeed each of my babies soon after birth (with the exception of my twins, as they were too tiny to nurse at birth.) Each time I put my tiny baby to my chest and gave that baby the nourishment and comfort that only a mommy can, I felt so awed by the process that only God could design! I look forward to the same connection I will have with this new little one coming soon.

All may enter.

Grosser than Gross

Thursday, July 19, 2007

Steph, over at Adventures in Babywearing, is having a contest. She wants to hear our GROSS stories for a chance to win a Dirt Devil KONE. So, since I have four boys, I thought I would be able to come up with a story or two to contribute... Well, it seems that I can't decide on my favorite gross story.

I could tell you about the time when my twins were about 15 months old and still sleeping in the same crib each night and for naps. One morning my husband went in to get them out of bed and was appalled and disgusted to find them changing each others diapers - No, I'm not joking. They were actually saying in broken words, "change, daddy!" There was a big brown mess everywhere - On them, on the sheets, on their stuffed toys, on the crib railings, on the walls, even on the floor!! A mess, I'm afraid, that could not be cleaned up with a vacuum!

Or, I could tell you about the moldy Eggos (yes, my kids eat Eggos!) that I found in a drawer in our guest room that my oldest son was supposed to clean! I was beginning to organize my scrapbook supplies in a desk in our spare room, and opened the top desk drawer to find a completely green Eggo, stuck like glue to the bottom of the drawer! It was very difficult to remove, I might add!

There are certainly many more that I could share with you... I have FOUR boys!! But, I think the story I would deam GROSSER than GROSS was an incident that just recently happened. I will not name the two children involved (my twins may be mad at me, if I do ), but here is what happened:

Not too long ago, while my husband and I were working in our backyard, we noticed two particular children were missing. We looked in the garage, in the house, and in the front yard, to no avail. Finally we found them by the garbage cans on the side of the house and were amazed by what we saw... Two boys beating a garbage can full of open poopy diapers, with mini shovels! "What on earth are you doing???" was the only thing my husband could say! "Killing the flies," was the reply. Quite logical, they thought... Attract the flies, then kill 'em!!!

"Do you know what you're having?"

Friday, July 6, 2007

Uggh.... That question has got to be the most bizarre - It always makes me laugh! I know I'm not having a monkey or an elephant... Let me see, last I knew I was having a BABY!!

Since we began to share with family and friends that God is blessing us with another arrow to add to our ever-expanding quiver, the questions are flying at us from all directions. I don't just get the shocked looks and "oh my, another one?" now I get the fun questions to answer, too.... And believe me, there are plenty!

One that drives me nuts, though, is the question that is so often posed to me, especially now that I am going to have child number 6... "How will you have enough love to go around?" I suppose it seems like a legitimate question to that only child out there, or to those parents who have only one or two children, but I just don't get it! If I was created in the image of God and He loves the whole world, how could He have given me only enough love to share with a few??? Sure my time and attention may be limited, but, in addition to me and Daddy, there are 5 older siblings (pseudo moms and dads, if you will) that will love on this little one! Besides, God never gives us more than we are capable, through Him, to take care of, and I believe that He will continue to increase the love I have to share as my family increases!

"Where are you going to put them all?" As if they were rabbits! You know, I spent most of my childhood living in very small spaces. Sure, it seemed cramped at times, but there was love shared and we all enjoyed being close to each other (we still do!). My siblings and I grew up respecting each other and watching out for each other. I think our 2700 square foot house will do just fine - My children have plenty of room to learn, play and grow. Heck, we have enough room for several more!

This is a fun one... "Are you sure you're not having twins again?" Am I really that big??? Now, I know that once one has twins the chances of having another set increase, but just because I've had twins once doesn't mean I am destined to have twins again. (After 2 ultrasounds and eight months, don't ya think we would know?)

"Are you gonna have more, or are you done after this?" The all-too-familiar shocked looks return when I answer this question. I have two answers actually. Most often I just reply, with a shrug, "I don't know, we'll see," but sometimes I add, "...God has put it on our hearts to adopt someday, too... We could end up with TEN!"

Now for my all-time favorite question asked, even by perfect strangers... "Don't you know what causes that?" Uh, yeah, and we like it!

I'm sure every mom, or mom-to-be, has been asked ridiculously silly questions, at one point. How do you answer the questions that are just silly? Don’t you wish you could have just handed them this?
