Created to be His Helpmeet is a fantastic book that helps us wives see exactly what the Lord had in mind for us when He created us. You can win a copy of this book and the companion Journal over at Off The Grid. This contest will close September 21st at 6am. Lori Wick is one of my all-time favorite authors. I have not read any of the English Garden series, but I'm hoping to win the first in the series... But the arrival of Ishmael and Ivy Grubb, squatters on the O'Sullivans' land, diverts Galen's attention. Though the Grubbs are crass and uneducated, Galen shows mercy and allows them to stay in exchange for help around the farm. It becomes, however, a decision he lives to regret.....

Anne, from Not Entirely British, is hosting a wonderful writing contest to spotlight our youth. Here's what Anne has to say about the contest:
To be honest, each young man or young woman is a winner. However, there will be prizes given for two stories. Initial judging of all entries received will take place midday (US MST) Friday, August 31st, which is the deadline. Posting of top entries will follow, giving you, the blog readers, a chance to comment on your favorite. The winning entry will be the one with the highest number of comments by midday (US MST) on Thursday, September 13th.
The young man or woman featured who gets the largest number of comments, will receive an autographed copy of Please, No Zits! & Other Short Stories for LDS Youth, and 50 soft cover books (see later entry from Zdocs). The content of the book can be whatever the winner wishes; the winning story, a simple memoir of the winner’s experience, or some other book-type idea. The winner also receives from Zdocs, the opportunity to sell the books on Razorpages for free.
The sender of the winning entry receives two gift wrapped items--Liquid Facial Wash, and Facial Moisturizer--from the all natural line of beauty products, Scentiments. Believe me, Scentiment products are worth having. I love them. He or she also receives a copy of Annette Lyon's latest novel, Spires of Stone.
The young person featured who has the next highest number of comments, receives a copy of Chick Lit author Stephanie Fower's latest romantic comedy out in September, Meet Your Match, together with a copy of Marcia Argueta Mickelson's novel, Star Shining Brightly. The sender of this second entry receives a copy of Heather B. Moore's first book in the Out of Jerusalem series--Of Goodly Parents. I have a story about my mother-in-law, Ruth, that cracks me up every time I think of it...
One evening my husband and I were sitting in the kitchen, talking to my in-laws about television shows, and what channels we usually watch. My husband, who is usually a big fan of the History channel and the like, mentioned that he knew I would be content just to watch Nick at Nite. My mother-in-law, thinking he had expressed his interest in this particular station, then proceeded to verbally reprimand Ray about the shows he chooses to watch and told him that he needed to be careful, especially with children in the house. Ray and I couldn't understand why Ruth was getting so upset, but finally discovered that she thought he said "naked night"!!! We were in tears, from laughing so hard!

Being mommy to five little ones, while being pregnant, is quite a chore, but I have learned - through my husband's gentle guidance - that I can not do everything -- The dishes can wait, the floor can go unswept (if only for the afternoon), the baseboards do NOT need to be scrubbed...
Do a little at a time and don't overdo it!!

My favorite books as a little girl were those by Dr. Suess... Loved Hop on Pop, probably because we were alway hopping on ours!! Green Eggs and Ham is a favorite around here, now.
Love You Forever, by Robert N. Munsch and Sheila McGraw, is however, THE BEST BOOK EVER!!! I cry every single time I read it!
