Scoop It, Baby!

PhotobucketMy all-time favorite ice cream creation is not very fancy. I can eat a bowl of coffee ice cream with Heath Bar chips in it any day!

What about you? Perhaps you are a milk shake kind of person? Would you rather indulge in a banana split or a sundae? Or, maybe you’re like me and enjoy something simple. I would love to hear how you scoop your ice cream!

Leave all the yummy details… I want to know exactly what you would put on, or mix in, your ice cream. Be creative! I want to be able to taste it!

Whoever leaves the comment with the most scrumptious ice cream creation, according to me and my hubby, will win an Ice Cream Dipper from Pampered Chef!

Make sure you leave your contact info in the comment. I need to be able to contact you if you win!

Now, head over and leave me a new ice cream fact for another chance to win something yummy. Remember you can leave one piece of ice cream trivia per day!

There is this awesome homemade ice cream store near me and I make my own creations there. I am a “pie” kinda girl when it comes to ice cream. I will get a scoop of pumpkin pie ice cream and a scoop of Cinnamon ice cream, add some whipped cream and sprinked Cinnamon and now I have a yummy pumpkin pie.

I also will get a scoop of apple strudle ice cream and a scoop of Cinnamon ice cream, add whipped cream and now I have apple pie.

We recently bought these Kiebler Ice Cream bowls, and they are the best! It’s pretty much just a cone, but in the shape of a bowl and they are a great portion controling size too which I love!

My DD loves it when I make her a “special drink” to her this means that mommy mixes vanilla ice-cream with some kind of juice to make her a simple smoothy. The best combination so far has been with using pink lemonaide…. it was amazing!

I would love to try some S’mores flavored ice cream. The graham cracker, marshmallow and bits of chocolate. Oh, I can taste it now! I may have to whip a batch of that up and see how well it works!

Sometimes I use a mini scoop to make it fun for my son. I have 3 different scoops, and will use a combo of them. He always gets a kick out of it.

I like to clean out the pantry and find stuff for my ice cream! Like graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, granola, coconut flakes, sprinkles, almonds/pecans, crushed up candy bars, etc.

If I have it on hand I like warm caramel syrup on my vanilla ice cream and hubby like hot fudge on his. We go together like a twix, LOL!

I also taught my hubby the art of having cookies with his ice cream. Oreos are the best, but also vanilla/strawberry wafers. Now I am craving these!

Usually I pick one or two of these toppings and enjoy, but if your really adventurous you could do all of them! MMMM!

Here in New Orleans, stuffed snoballs are to local FAVORITE! The snoball starts off with a layer of shaved ice (so thin and powdery that it melts in your mouth like snow) drenched in the flavored syrup of your choice…mine is chocolate or maybe wedding cake. Next, the snoball is stuffed with soft-serve ice cream topped with yet another layer of syrup coated ice. Finish it off with a dribble of condensed milk! YYUUMM!

Sweet!!

How I like my ice cream really depends. If I am fixing it at home, my very favoritest way of serving it is a scoop of Rocky Road, heaped with extra marshmallows and topped with chocolate syrup.

If I’m going out for ice cream and it is available, I’ll go for the coconut flavor every time. I’ve had it with nuts and with chocolate chips and really enjoyed each one. The cone adds a lot to this flavor, too.

Growing up I liked the simplicity of rainbow sherbert on a cone, but Dustin turned me on to something new. I love to scoop my vanilla ice cream in a glass and add a tad of milk (Dustin uses Chocolate ice cream and a ton of milk) and throw in some fresh brownies in it for texture, mix it up a little and I have one tasty cool treat.

My favorite way to have icecream is either in a milkshake (vanilla icecream, milk, chocolate syrup) or what my son and I call “icecream soup” where we stir the icecream until it is mostly melted. :)

A family favorite “recipe” is for Mudpie — you use oreos and butter for the crust, mix chocolate icecream and coffee icecream with a little Kahlua, and then top with melted fudge sauce (and/or chopped pecans).

I have two that are really great… the first is simply put any type of cereal on top of ice cream. Seriously, it sounds strange but it’s good. Captain crunch and fruity pebbles are the favorite in my house.
The other, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, followed by a scoop of shaved ice and topped with shaved ice flavoring. My favorite is strawberry… yum! jeepcutie82 at msn dot com

When eating ice cream I have to get Soy Dairy Free, or Coconut Dairy Free since I am one of many people that are Lactose-intolerant. This is great though because we can still have soycream that tastes just like ice cream without regret! Personally I am a fruit girl. I like to get fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blend them in with vanilla soycream. I add a little soymilk, pour into a large glass and top with 80% cocao chocolate shavings. Delicious “milk” shake with tasty ingredients for that hot summer night.

There is this store near me that makes something they call a “razzle”. Now I’ve had “razzles” in other stores, and they’re nothing like this one!
This is what they do:
Place flavored slush in a cup.
Put in some peanut butter, choc. syrup, nut crunch, rice krispies, and then some vanilla/chocolate icecream.
Then they mix it with the milkshake machine.
YUM!!!!!!!!!
When I know that I won’t be finishing it within 5 minutes (which is quite rare!) then I request no ricekrispies. I like it better when it’s crunchy!

An exotic dry fruit like mangos are wonderful with cream. They taste like an exotic orange with a Latin attitude.

Add a little rumba with a touch of raspberry and now the mango is pretending to be an exotic subsistute for Peach Melba.

Now add that hint of mint from the south of the Carolina’s and oh-la-la, the South America meets the north’s Deep South.

(sigh) and Enjoy.

We found that the easiest way to scoop icecream is to dip the scooper in warm water inbetween scoops. Now- for my families favorite icecream masterpiece:
We take Haagen-Dazs Cinnamon dulce de leche icecream and let it soften a bit. We then add a few drizzles of Smucker’s Hot Caramel Topping and fold that in. Next- you fold in Smuckers Pecans in Syrup. You then take left over apple pie and fold in small amounts of apple pie into the icecream and blend it all together. It is really a decadant treat with so many yummy flavors that work really well together. Hope you get to try it!
