Pocketful of Sunshine

I have had a rough couple of days. I’ve been overwhelmed, tired and have just wanted to get away.
Funny how God works…
I was listening to a catchy, upbeat song yesterday afternoon – one of my favorite Natasha Bedingfield songs, in fact – and it struck me that my God is my “pocketful of sunshine.” No matter what happens in the world around me, what people say about me, or how big my pile of laundry is, I can go to that place where it’s just Him and me.
He is my secret place, my hiding place.
A place where I know I’ll be all right.
A sweet escape.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.
Do what you want, but you’re never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.
Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.
Take me away to better days
Take me away: A hiding place.
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.
Do what you want, but you’re never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.
Wish that you could, but you ain’t gonna own me.
Do anything you can to control me.
You can’t control me
You can’t control me.
Oh, no.
Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.
Take me away to better days
Take me away: A hiding place.
There’s a place that I go
That nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home
And there’s no more lies.
In the darkness, there’s light.
And nobody cries. There’s only butterflies.
Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape take me away.
Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.
Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape take me away.
Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.
The sun is on my side.
Takes me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I’ll be all right.
The sun is on my side.
Takes me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I’ll be all right.

I’m sorry it’s been rough:( (((hugs))) But I’m so glad you found that ray of light (no pun intended) heeeheee
MWAH!
What a lovely and upbeat post!
Wow I listen to that song all the time but I will never hear it the same again. Thanks. I am smiling now.
I can surely relate. Sometimes my friends and I would call each other and say I have no rays of sunshine. That lets us know that we need to pray for the person who is in need of that pocket full of sunshine. Thanks for the post.
You are so special! This was great to read today.
Amen. So glad that our God is there whenever and wherever to spread His sunshine. Hope your day is a little better today!
