Party Planning

I am on a quest this weekend to find everything we need for Julia’s birthday party. I know, her birthday was in May, but we are celebrating her six years of life in just a few weeks. You see, she wanted to have a “water fun” party with a big water slide for the big kids (thanks to Uncle Chuck and Aunt Lisa) and a kiddie pool for the little ones. Not only was it a bit too daring to do that in May, but our backyard was a big pile of dirt then, too.
I always have so much fun preparing for my kids birthday parties. Finding the fun decorations, shopping for all of the birthday party supplies, putting together the perfect cake…. I love it! I probably go overboard sometimes, but that’s what makes our parties fun! (I found a great place to get discount party supplies – Essential for planning 6 parties every year!)
Anyway, I was looking at party supplies and I thought it would be fun to have a tropical Luau-like theme… We can get a bunch of fun decorations, some leis, and even a Hula Girl Pinata! Julia’s Aunt Lisa has offered to paint the kiddos’ faces, so even their faces can match our theme!
Now I just have to figure out what kind of cake I should make. Maybe a pineapple or a palm tree. Any ideas?

You could do a Hula girl or a grass skirt for a b-day cake. Just a thought
To play off the Hula girl, you could use the Pampered Chef batter bowl. Bake a cake in it then put a Barbie or other Barbie like doll on it, the bowl could be the skirt, decorate it to look like a grass skirt. Or you could use the prep bowls and make individual cakes for the kids with the same idea just on a smaller scale.

I love party-planning. Mine is coming up and I’m looking for ideas. Seems like you’re going to make this a great one. I like the palm tree, maybe a surfboard? Beach scene?
how fun..summer pool parties are the best. I love that idea of a summer party. My daughter’s is in June and it is gloomy…next year it may have to be in July!
