This last weekend was one to remember – After years of hearing the children beg, we finally hung lights on our house, for the very first time ever! The kids were thrilled and it certainly looks lovely, but hanging the lights came with it’s own set of challenges. At one point during the process, I heard Ray mutter, “well, this is certainly interesting,” only to have him turn around with a staple sticking out of his finger nail. Ouch!
The lights may have just gone up, but we’ve been counting down the days until Christmas since December 1st. We were sent an Advent Calendar from Playmobil to review and tell you about, but I have to say that I was a little disappointed in the “police” theme, so it didn’t last long on the wall. I mean, what does a burglary scene have to do with Christmas? It certainly didn’t reveal any thing even remotely associated with the Old Testament story leading up to the birth of Jesus.
Since our “advent calendar” came down, Josh is now keeping track of the countdown to Christmas. Every evening he announces how many days are left until the big day. Boy, does he get more excited with each passing day! I know the little guy is anxious for the gifts that he is sure to receive on Christmas morning, but it’s important for us to remember the real reason to be excited during this Christmas season. Even as you hang those lights and run around gathering those last minute gifts.

Ewwwww could have done without the staple in the finger visual, that had to hurt something wicked! But it does remind me I need to coax my hubby to getting out and putting some lights up.

We love going around to look at lights but we don’t do them on our house.
Ouch! I did almost staple my finger one time in kindergarten. Not fun.
