I am the oldest of five children. While growing up, each of us would get to have a day off from doing all of our chores, and got to sit in the front seat of our mini-van, on our birthday. Both were such a special treat! We would also get to choose our favorite meal for dinner – Mom would make us what ever we requested!
Now, an adult, and mom of many, I don’t get to skip out on any of my chores. But, we always go to my favorite restaurant to celebrate… That way I don’t have to make dinner!

Happy birthday, Christine!!
Hmm, traditions. I don’t think I have any. Is that sad? I was born on Thanksgiving, but it’s not so every year, and my sister’s birthday is one day after mine. So normally, we celebrated together with the family at Thanksgiving (and, maybe surprisingly, we never resented that… it felt kinda cool to be holiday birthday sisters).
the only thing i remember when i was young that we did LOL since i was born on the 4th of july i got lots of fire works each year and we would have a bbq with the family.
Happy birthday!! I turn 30 in a couple of weeks!
My favorite tradition for us was on the actual date of my birthday we would always have a traditional mud pie ice cream cake and I would get my big present.
then on the weekend I would have a party with my friends.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Happy Birthday! Our tradition is that the birthday person gets to pick where we eat out. How fun is that – you pick and get presents!!
Happy Birthday Christine!!!!

Happy Birthday!
Birthday traditions in my family. We go out to dinner and get to choose the restaurant.
When we were younger we got to pick what was for dinner.
My great Aunt took my sister and I out to buy a Playmobile of our choice every year for our birthday. I always have like consistency in my birthday gifts :0)
Happy Bday! I am also turning 30 this year! Woo-hoo! A birthday tradition for me growing up was picking what is for diiner and using the Red Special Plate! SOunds lame but the plate was really a awesome thing to use.
The only tradition that we have for birthdays is that I make a special birthday breakfast for my children on their birthdays. I let them pick out whatever they want and it is usually something we don’t eat much otherwise…like cinnamon rolls. They love it!
Growing up we had the tradition of a birthday meal and the “Salad Dressing cake”. With my kids, we go out to eat on their birthday, and do a party for them. Once they are a little older we will individually take them out…just the b-day child and parents…make it special.
Happy Birthday!~~thanks for the comments on my blog. I hope you try the cake recipe…it is wonderful!
We had all sorts of traditions growing up. If we went out to eat or if we stayed home, we got to pick. It was always fun but I almost always pick(ed) Mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup. This is fine but my birthday is in August and it was never really soup weather.
At age 9 we had our first birthday sleepover, and at age 10 we got our ears pierced. I have lots of great memories of my birthdays from when I was younger.
We dont really have a tradition for the adults (unless you count me forgetting everyone’s birthdays as a tradition)
However, for the kids, I always take them shopping the day before their big birthday party and let them chose a birthday outfit
This is a wonderful time I get to spend one on one with not only my children but I do it for all of my nieces and nephews as well. This is my little tradition
We don’t really have any traditions as adults except the 5 us family Members getting together. Here’s my linky love: http://doreens-scrap-wonderland.blogspot.com/2007/10/surprise-give-away-day-five.html
I sent you an e-mail with my info. Just wanted to make sure you received it!
Thanks again!!!
