I know you are excited to see what fab green items are in this gift pack, right? Well, without further ado, here’s a peak at the loot:
As one of Walmart’s 11Moms, I was given the opportunity to “test” each of these items before agreeing to give you a chance to win some of your own. You know I have to make sure that the items I talk about here at From Dates to Diapers are buzz-worthy. Anyhoo, here are my anecdotal thoughts on each of these products:
I got to use the Bissell Little Green Deep Cleaner pretty quick! With a huge strawberry stain in the middle of my living room, I gave it a test run just after finding it on my doorstep. The little bottle of cleaner it came with was gone in no time as I extended my test run up the stairs… That little sucker (and I mean that in the best possible way) is great on tough stains and spills! I’m sure you’re wondering what makes this little machine earth-friendly, right? Well, it’s parts are made from post-consumer recycled plastic and has PVC-free tanks and hose. The packaging is even eco-friendly.
At the beginning of the year I talked about the Brita Water Pitcher. Filtering water through these pitchers are an ideal solution for reducing bottled water waste. But in addition, the Brita pitcher can effectively replace 300 plastic water bottles, which can also save the average person more than $145 a month. How’s that for saving money and living better?!
Most of you know how much laundry I have to wash each and every day… Well, with Tide Cold Water I can wash clothes all day long and know that they will be clean and fresh, even if I was in cold water. And, with five boys and a very active girl, that’s sayin’ a whole lot!
I try to get my kiddos in on the action whenever I have chores to do around the house. Letting them use safe products such as Clorox Green Works Cleaners and White Cloud “Green Earth” Paper Towels (not shown) has given me peace of mind. I know that letting my kids use these products to help wash windows or wipe countertops, are not only effective in getting my surfaces clean, but they won’t harm my kiddos or the environment. With all of this window crayon all over my glass doors these days, my kiddos are getting their fair share of clean up time!
Now that you’ve seen the items you can win, I do hope you will help us discover some of the best green tips by entering my giveaway. Remember there are three ways to enter, so give me your best shot!

I only run the dishwasher when it’s full and try to use it at night.
switch to cfl bulbs now!
I recycle as much as I can.
Make it easy to recycle. Have a bin just for those items and teach your kids early. That way if you are even SLIGHTLY tempted to not recycle they will be all over you about it. Trust me. LOL
I make my own counter wipes just fill a container with some soap and water with vinegar and paper towels or small cloth rags and use has needed
Green tip: Only buy what you need (or really love). That way, you have less to recycle, reuse & reduce!
I always send my plastic grocery sacks to school to be recycled and they get the proceeds.
We either pass down items to a family we know or take them to Goodwill. We also know of a consignment shop where the items you take there are sold and help families with AIDS. This way you don’t fill up the landfills and you help others.
BTW, I only meant to post one time. If someone could combine the posts or eliminate one please.
i unplug stuff, not just turn it off,
If clothes (that are in good condition) and toys are no longer wanted or no longer fit, I take them to the local charity organization so they can get further use out of them from somebody else. If the clothing has stains on the, I keep them and use them as rags to clean my floors and other surfaces.
i have been recycling everything i can, also got skoy they sure cutdown on papertowel usa
I make my own all-purpose cleaning solution using castille soap, Borax, vinegar, and water. It lasts forever, disinfects, smells good, and is safe to use around my family. I also use rags for cleaning instead of paper towels to reduce waste.
We use containers instead of plastic bags to take food to work with us!
I take our old socks and use them for dusting, wash them and they are ready to dust again. Thanks for the giveaway!
One tip we use is to turn off the water when not in use. We were wasting a lot of water and power with it running while we brush teeth, warming up showers too long, hose, etc.
Thank you for the great giveaway!
I follow on twitter and facebook, we’ve been adopting more and more green habits and we try really hard to combine all our errands into the best way to save the most gas
Fluorescent light bulbs. We’ve been using them for over 10 years
I place a dy towel in the dryer with my wet clothes. The dry towel absorbs a lot of the moisture cutting down on the drying time and saving electricity
i reuse dryer sheets several times before tossing. they are great for dusting, too (after they have been all dryered up).
i use vinegar and water to clean most surfaces in my home.
i use baking soda to scrub my pots and pans clean. no scratch and no chemicals eating my skin!
I like to find ways to recycle used containers. For example, you can wash juice bottles and pack them in with lunches!
Try to grow your own food…its green, it tastes good, its more fun than grass, and its easier than you think.
A few of my simple ‘green tips’ are:
Consider using three-way lamps in your home. They make it easier to keep lighting levels low when bright light is not necessary.
Also, always remember to cover liquids and wrap foods stored in the refrigerator. Uncovered foods release moisture and make the compressor work harder.
Thanks for the ‘awesome’ giveaway offering and good luck to all!
reuse everything that you can.
we put eggshells under our tomato plants for the calcium.
every plastic jar can be used for storage of rubber bands or screws or planted in.
old tee shirts turn into dusting cloths and shoe shine rags.
and if you can,t use it, find someone who can!
I just started with the whole green thing ,we are trying cloth diapers ,using the reusable bags when shopping ,we even use freecycle to get rid of our unwanted things to keep them out the landfill ,we unplug things that are not being used ,we want to get a water filter and start using green cleaning products ,im sure there is so much more we can do .I love hetting new ideas
Don’t water after noon or before 7pm, less evaporation. Doesn’t hurt that I live in an area where this is a requirement. Use low flow shower heads.
Being green is all about using up what you already have as well as saving the environment. To save batteries, keep batteries that are not yet needed in the fridge. It will keep the batteries from “leaking” and make them last longer!

My green tip it to make your own reusable shopping bags. This is great for 3 reasons:
1.) It is green!
2.) It is fairly easy and fun.
3.) It it often less expensive than the nice ones you buy in the stores.
Make sure you have a full dish washer, washer and dryer before you start to use them. Find out about a rain barrel for your area to water your lawn.
I use only plant based bio-degradable products to cleen my home. Safer for the environment, and safer for my children.
When I studied at Oxford University in Great Britain one summer I was surprised that there were no clothes dryers in the dormitory where i lived. Instead, students hung hand-washed clothing in a specially designated “drying room”. That was a lesson that taught me to forgo using my dryer. I hang clothes outside on a line. I gave up using my dishwasher as well. Thank you for the contest.
I don’t even own a clothes dryer – I hang our laundry on the line. Not only do I save the energy it would take to dry the clothes in a dryer, I don’t have to use smelly chemical fabric softners – I can use natural softners and still have a great scent in the clothes.
My green tip is to recycle everything that you can~Will make for a safer planet!!
Spend the money for a good bicycle. You will get your money back because you will actually ride it.
Clothes that are too stained or torn to donate I cut up and use as cleaning rags.

Save boxes from cereals, cookies, etc. for foodscraping. Any paper products that has food on it can go into the green/compost bin..like pizza boxes or those Chinese take-out boxes (without the wire handle).
Use tote bag when you shop instead of getting the plastic/paper bags. Easier to carry and holds more groceries.
Posted an entry in my blog.

I am shutting down my computer at night since it uses so much electricity.
Close the curtains when running the air conditioner to cut down on electricty costs.
I unplug all of my appliances when they’re not in use (computers, toasters, etc.) We’re recycling, composting, and using our own bags at the grocery store. Thanks for the giveaway~
I am always taking my reusable cloth bags to the store now. I will b e starting to compost.
I make my own household cleaners from natural ingredients such as baking soda and vinegar. I have two reusable plastic bottles that I make my cleaners in so there are less toxins and plastic waste in the world.
I just changed all of our surge protectors to the new conserve surge protectors. They are made by Belkin. When we are done with our electronics for the day you just flip the switch so nothing is sapping unneeded energy! http://www.belkin.com/conserve/
I am now hanging laundry outside to dry instead of using my dryer.
Instead of using paper towel use micro fiber cloths. Use reusable bags when shopping.
I use Green Clening Products. Recycle My Papers… And we reuse Water Bottles to make Sand Art!
Please recycle plastic, aluminum, newspaper, glass & unplug when not in use & compost whenever possible & use cfl bulbs & switch to green cleaners!
Use reusable shopping bags and recycle
Mine is simple..we have stopped using plastic water bottles and now use reusable water bottles
Check your toilet to see if it is a water-saving type.
Bring refillable containers where available, such as cat litter, or use the less-waste alternatives (such as fabric softener that comes in a cardboard container).
Our green tip is to look for ways to cut down driving – use mass transit, walk, combine shopping trips whenever possible
Easy & inexpensive: Buy only what you need and then get it from thrift stores and garage sales. Re-using items saves a lot of resources that are used to make something new.
i have installed low flow shower heads and dripper sprinkler systems to my entire house. water is too precious to waste.
I use newspapers and rags to clean instead of paper towels.
I use washer plastic containers for my lunches–margarine containers work great for this And the water battles that I used to buy I just refill them at home and put them in the freezer, pack with my lunch so that it stays cold then I have iced water to drink to
Tweeted: slehan
I got a rain collector to use to water my plants and garden!
I only use sigg bottles now – just wish there was an easier way to wash them out!
We use reusable bags for all shopping trips and all natural products for cleaning and bathing. All the bulbs in the house have been changed to green bulbs. We make sure tires, filter and all car maintenance is checked regularly. We unplug all cell phone cords from the outlets when not in use. We make sure all bottles, plastic and papers are separated for disposal.
unplug your appliances when theyre not in use, otherwise theyll still use energy

buy SIGGS for the whole family to stop the plastic bottle abuse!
I turn everything in the house off when we are not home
I unplug appliances like microwave oven and toaster when I do not use them
I use reusable shopping bags and I unplug all unused appliances.
I use reusable snadwich containers in the kids lunches and always use my own bags.
Replacing the filter on my furnace/AC really increases the efficiency of the unit as it doesn’t have to work as hard.
turn off the lights when not in a room.
I donate our used clothing and household stuff to Goodwill, and cut up the really ratty stuff into rags.
I take old rugs and towels to the local animal shelter for the pups to lay on. I line our big garbage can with old newspapers instead of using plastic bags,
and we use the old plastic grocery bags for kitchen scraps and garbage.
Instead of stopping at the coffee shop each morning, I now take a travel cup of coffee to work. I also use florescent light bulbs (our local electric company gave each customer a dozen for free!), and I keep a large tote bag in my car for the grocery store runs.
My green tip is to take brown paper sacks from the grocery store and cut along the edge and top to make one long stip of brown paper that can be used in sending out packages. The inside of course doesn’t have any printing so it’s also great to use a rubber stamp on the paper and use it as gift wrap with some personality! ty!!
I turn off my water heater at the fuse/breaker box when not in use!
I donate to Goodwill & other thrift store & buy from them too.
I love to Shop ate Flea markets & garage sale to upcyle/recyle others things for my own.

When towels are too worn to be used anymore, I cut them into cleaning rags. It’s nice to have a supply of cotton terry rags for cleaning tough jobs that paper towels would never stand up to.
My green tip is to use cloth diapers! We’re in the process of switching over and it’s actually kind of exciting!
I have been replacing all of my light bulbs with CFLs as they burn out. I am also vowing to start using re-usable grocery bags when shopping. I got another free bag at work today. I am getting tired of trying to find places to recycle the plastic grocery bags that I have been getting.
My green tip is to recycle. Sounds simple but until I moved to a city with curbside recycling, I didn’t realize how much recycling opportunities I’d wasted in the past.
My green tips are:
1. recycle
2. compost
3. use cfl bulbs
4. use low flow showerheads & toilets
5. unplug when not in use

Stop buying bottled water.Buy a filter instead!!!
I refuse to use the plasic bags at the grocery stores. I will either bring bags or boxes to take my items home. On the rare occasion I forget to bring enough bags/ boxes along I always chhose paper bags. These can be reused to hold paper for recycling.
Thanks for the contest.

We go to the grocery store so often and so we try as often as we can to take our reusable bags with us saving the plastic. We also run all of our appliances at night, I hear that saves energy. Since its getting so much warmer these days we try to go out during the hottest parts of the day so that we don’t have to run the air conditioner.
Thank you for entering me.

Use reusable go-green bag at the store, instead of plastic.
Turn off lights when not in use.
pkbailey@charter.net
I use cloth bags for shopping and newspaper for cleaning windows and mirrors.
I’m being more watchful of the packaging on products I buy. If it’s in a recycled package, I’m much more apt to purchase. If the packaging is bulky (wasteful), I pass on that item.
I re-use large dog food bags for extra padding when I haul cargo in my truck.
I am fortunate that I live in the country and hang the clothes on a clothesline to dry. We have chickens for meat, eggs and manure for the compost pile and gardens.
Simplicity of our forefathers is humbling. whammyammy(at)yahoo(dot)com
