Indoor Fountains Provide Many Benefits

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on December 1, 2008

There is a reason why the swooshing sounds that simulate the sounds of the womb, or sounds of nature have a calming effect on infants… Babies are bombarded with the sounds of the television, vehicles, and constant chatter. Even the sound of the refrigerator, or jeans in the dryer, are sounds that are foreign to newborns, causing overstimulation and stress. There is nothing more soothing than those ambient sounds of nature.

White noise machines, or even consistent sounds, like rain or waterfalls, act as barriers against sleep disturbing noise, or stressful sounds, for adults, too. Consider bringing an indoor water fountain into your living room or nursery, instead of one of those white noise simulators. Not only will it act as a natural humidifier, but it will clean the air from dust particles all the while creating a peaceful sound for you and your baby.

I recently received the Mini Moonshadow Tabletop Fountain, from Soothing Walls, for review. This small, but handsome, fountain was easy to assemble and would fit very nicely on a dresser or side table in the nursery, or even on a desk in your office. I have placed mine on our kitchen counter to provide sweet sounds of serenity on our most hectic days. In fact, as I sit here typing, it is the only sound I hear… I can feel my stress fade away! (Oh yeah, and my kiddos are in bed.)

This mini fountain is on special for $99, with free shipping, for the holidays. That’s $101+ below normal price! You may be able to purchase one of those white noise machines for half the price, but bringing nature indoors beats having an ugly box in the room!

I agree with the tranquility of fountains. I love water fountains inside and out. I just wish someone could invent one that the cats wouldn’t drink all the water out of.

I love fountains. My husband is always looking at fountains when we shop and I always tell him.. “when the kids get older” lol Otherwise…… it gets a bit messy with my 4 year old son. Perhaps I should find a place up really HIGH!!! lol
