Homemade ice cream IS the best!

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on July 23, 2008

I remember mixing together the ingredients for fresh ice cream, as a little girl, and enjoying a big bowl after the agonizing wait … There is just something about homemade ice cream on a hot summer day, especially if it’s made with fresh strawberries!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI think every family should experience the joy of creating their very own ice cream. Whether you like fresh strawberry, creamy vanilla, or decadent chocolate, ice cream is a breeze to make in a Hamilton Beach Ice Cream Maker.

The best part about this fabulous ice cream maker is that it makes ice cream, frozen yogurt & gelato in only 25-40 minutes … Not too long for the little kiddos to wait! And, its automatic so you don’t need ice or salt.

To continue the celebration of National Ice Cream Month, I have a Hamilton Beach 1.5 quart Ice Cream Maker to give to one lucky reader!

Here’s how to enter:

  • Visit HamiltonBeach.com and leave a comment here telling me which of the ice cream maker’s product features is most appealing, and why. This will earn you one entry.
  • For an optional entry, post a link to this giveaway and mention Hamilton Beach, on your blog, and leave me the url to your post. Kudos if you post a recipe for homemade ice cream… No extra entry earned, but I’d love to try it, so leave me the url.

I always have tons of fun stuff going on and would love for you to know about it. Make sure you leave me a separate comment to tell me you subscribed.

i love the fact that i can make dairy-free ice cream at home… (coconut milk!) and that i wouldn’t need rock salt. i remember not being able to have homemade ice cream that often because we never had rock salt around!

No ice or salt – that is great because they are too messy!

Thank you!

This is so simple, but I like the easy lock lid because I don’t know how many times I think I sealed the lid on something only to find it open, have the lid fall off. . .I can go on an on. This will ensure that thing remains closed.

My current ice cream maker requires ice and salt. It would be much easier to not have to hunt down 2 bags of ice every time we want to make ice cream.

What’s especially appealing to me is that one specific feature is that you can use it to make gelato, which I fell in love with on a trip to Venice a few years ago, and includes a recipe book to help the novice gelato-maker along. Thanks!

My favorite feature is that it appears to be battery operated. I have an electric ice cream maker now, but it requires an outlet. With this one, I could freeze the bowl, pack it in a well chilled and iced cooler, and make ice cream while camping. It would, of course, have to be made the first day, and consumed on the same said day, but that saves s’mores for the rest of the time!

Thanks for the giveaway! I’ve always wanted an ice cream maker but have never gotten around to buying one. We have a family reunion once a year and they make homemade ice cream there but it would be nice not to have to wait another year for it :) My favorite feature is that it’s automatic and there’s no ice or salt needed. I was always worried that if I got one that needed salt that I’d end up with savory ice cream instead of sweet :)
