Hip Hop Baby! {Giveaway}

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on December 27, 2009

rockindanceparty gethealthyfit

This educational DVD series features child-friendly dance routines that help your child develop listening skills and the ability to follow simple directions. Your toddler will experience the joys of learning their ABC’s, animals, body parts, and numbers through fun-filled musical performances and interviews with the hip hop kids. Your little ones will learn simple hip hop dance steps with Miss Dre while playing Simon Says with our puppet, Hip Hop Simon, the “cool” cat puppet.

I am always on the lookout for activities that provide quality learning opportunities. It’s most fun for everyone involved if we can incorporate movement and music, like when we watch the Hip Hop Baby! videos. Now, I’m not a big fan of plopping the kids down in front of the TV, but when I’m working with my older kids, or my batteries are running low, I’ll put on one of these videos. I appreciate the fact that this series encourages that the viewer stay on their feet and actively engages their brain.

My younger kids are big fans of moving to any beat, whether it be the beat of the drums at church and even the beat of their own drums. Dancing is only a part of what Hip Hop Baby! has to offer, but a big part of the reason why my kids love these DVDs!

I’m sure your kiddos will love these DVDs, as well, and I am excited to give you the opportunity to win TWO of themRockin’ Dance Party AND Get Healthy, Get Fit.

Well to tell you the truth, my 3 and 1 yr old, and myself actually turn the radio way up in my 3 yr olds room and have a dance party on his bed. A bit embarassing but my kids LOVE it and I get to burn a few extra calories too. :)

In warmer weather we walk to the park and play on the playground. Now that the weather is colder we dance to music or play games like Simon Says, Hookey Pookey or Twister.

I have a 2 yr old son and we recently had to move back into an apt. for financial reasons. Since its smaller than what we had before, plus it being so cold out we will go down to the basement and have races. He even ride his scooter down there.

We have a playground nearby that we love to run around just about everyday!

We go to the pool and play games in the water, she takes gymnastics, and plays soccer. We, also, go on a lot of little hikes.

My 3 year old son and (7 short days away from) 2 year old daughter love to build tents with their table and stools, our wing back chairs and couch cushions. The kids get 1 hour of tv in the morning and maybe 1 hour in the evening (depends on the weather that day) and the rest of the time we use our imaginations and learn. The kids have a sandbox, playhouse, basketball goal and soccer net in the back yard. They can run wild and have a great time outside. They also have a bike and trike and we can utilize the sidewalk in front of our house for that. If indoors we play games, dance to music and pretend play….

We walk the dog and we go hiking too. We got a Wii for Christmas and the whole family has been bowling and playing tennis.

We regularly sing and dance around here. I also let my older daughter take her baby for walks in her doll stroller while I walk our baby in the regular stroller. It’s great exercise for her because we alternate skipping, marching, and hopping with our walk.

I keep my daughter active by going out for walks with her after dinner every night.

Anita December 28, 2009 at 9:47 pm

Do you really want to know how we keep our children active?! ;) Oh, I know… in the midst of so much technology, we really need to be careful about this. However, my kids have so much energy, I often wonder how to get them to calm down — LOL! They enjoy playing outside in the fresh air and even dancing along with the Wiggles or with some other kid-friendly show that encourages kids to “join” in the fun! :)
