As someone who loves God with my whole heart and often likes to talk about the products that our family loves, I was captivated by some cute little snippets I’ve been hearing on the Christian radio station. These sayings use the slogans from America’s favorite products in such a way as to communicate some of the characteristics of God. Trite? Maybe. But, they got my attention.
Just the other day, I received a forward from a gal in my Bible Study group. These little sayings were put together by 5th graders. Ten and eleven-year-olds.
A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in 20 ways to communicate ideas about God.
Here are some of my favorites:
God is like
BAYER ASPIRIN…
He works miracles
God is like
COCA-COLA…
He’s the real thing
God is like
HALLMARK CARDS…
He cares enough to send His very best
God is like
TIDE…
He gets the stains out
God is like
SCOTCH TAPE…
You can’t see Him, but you know He’s there
God is like
ALLSTATE…
You’re in good hands with Him
God is like
DIAL SOAP…
Aren’t you glad you have Him? Don’t you wish everybody did?
God is like
The U.S. Postal Service…
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor ice will keep Him from His appointed destination
God is like
CHEVROLET…
the heart beat of America
God is like
BOUNTY…
He is the quicker picker upper… Can handle the tough jobs…
And He won’t fall apart on you
Talk back!
What do you think of the idea of using the slogans from every day things to convey God’s attributes?
