Find your way the easy way! (A Giveaway)

I am directionally challenged, to say the least. I have no idea, at any given time, which way is north and which way is south. For a long while I begged and pleaded with my husband to help me find a way to include the luxury of purchasing a GPS system into our budget, to no avail. We joked about Ray being my personal GPS guide, since I would call him any time I got lost or just couldn’t find my way. He always knew exactly where I was and how to get to where I wanted to go.
Magellen, however, came to my rescue with the RoadMate 1212. I don’t have to call Ray from the road, in desperation, because I don’t go anywhere without this baby! As far as GPS systems go, this one is pretty affordable, and is amazingly easy to use. You can see your position on the interactive map, plus distance to the next turn, distance to destination, estimated time of arrival, street names and more, all at a glance. The simple touch-screen menu presents easy options, and voice guidance offers worry-free driving, with spoken turn-by-turn directions, so you can keep your eyes on the road.

With it’s split-screen capability and SayWhere text-to-speech, the Magellan RoadMate 1212 is fun and easy to use. So far I’ve used it to find my way to a new doctor’s office, I’ve found the closest Pei Wei to my then-current destination, and even discovered a quicker way to get downtown. If I ever miss a turn because I’m yelling at talking to one of my kiddos, my new friend will automatically re-route… How’s that for nice?
Did I mention it is easy to use? Okay, I did.
How about that you can win one? Yep, you will have the chance to win a Magellan RoadMate 1212 of your very own!
Here’s how to enter:
- Leave me a comment on this post, before 9pm (pacific) on September 30th, with your best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) LOST story. Now, I don’t want any stories about that popular TV show… I want real stories about a time when you were really lost.
- For an extra entry in the random drawing, feel free to subscribe to my blog feed , but make sure you leave me a separate comment saying you did.
- A single commenter, chosen at random, will win a Magellen RoadMate 1212. The winner will be notified via email, so make sure you leave a valid email address in your comment.
Good luck!

I don’t get lost too often, mostly because I don’t drive around too much in unknown places. My worst “lost” story is that every time I go to the riverboat casino about 45 minutes from here, I always turn on the wrong road because the first road (not the one the casino is on) is Empress Ln or something, then the road the casino is on is called Empress parkway. I always think that the first road has the casino name on it so it MUST be the right road.
When I was a kid my mom took us to go see the Christmas lights in the next city over because there was supposed to be an area of houses that had great light displays. She thought she knew how to get there, but apparently not because we ended up getting lost in some neighborhood and got all turned around. I think I was about 7 at the time and I remember the casette tape of Christmas songs playing over and over and over. I think it had 6 or 7 songs and after about the third time I heard “I’m getting nothing for Christmas” I started to worry I would never see my home again! Me typing this is testimony that we did eventually find our way home, but we never did see the Christmas lights we were going to look at!
We don’t travel a lot because of this very reason. We do not like to get lost. lol My worst lost story is about a subdivision just a few minutes from my house. We had just finished eating and I wanted to a short cut to go to Walmart. I decided to go through this new subdivision that connected the 2 roads that I needed to use. I got soo lost in that subdivision. We were lost for a good 30 minutes. Every turn I made just put me on another street in there. I finally had to call my bil and get directions from him on how to get out. Sad story but true. lol Thank you.
I hate driving down town Boston more than anyone can imagine. With the traffice and construction it’s horrible. The last trip in I became so frustrated that I was ready to leave my car and take a train home. My fiance wipes away my tears and hoped in the drivers seat! We got home alive, barely.
I sooo need to win this!!
I live in CT, a fairly small state…Last week I was over an hour late for my own baby shower due to getting lost 3 times…
very embarrassing and a bummer, and I realized if I had this kind of gadget, it would save me a lot of angst.
thanks for the contest…*I did get to the shower finally and have fun, but missed the first hour!
I was going to a divorce retreat up in Prescott and I got lost in the mountains, it was pitch black and the road seemed to be getting narrower and narrower – then I passed this really scary looking decrepit old timey gas station that was closed with a big sign out that said Skull Valley – i got so scared I turned around – and finally found the turnoff for my retreat – man that was one terrifying ride for me – I thought i was going to run into a scene from Deliverance or Friday the 13th!!!
I have a great sense of direction. When I’m not exactly sure of where I am, I just say to myself “I’m having an adventure. Thanks for the contest.
