When I was first contacted and given the opportunity to review Eureka’s new vacuum cleaner, I was a bit hesitant. I have been a true Dyson fan and was skeptical that the AirSpeed really cleans carpets better than Dyson DC14, DC17 and DC25, as touted. I decided to give it a go, mainly because I felt the need to appease my curiosity.
I ran a little comparison test of my own — I first vacuumed my living room floor with my Dyson DC25 only to go over the carpet again with the AirSpeed. Not only did my living room floor look cleaner the second time it was vacuumed, but the AirSpeed canister showed quite a bit of dust and dirt that would have been left on my floor when I thought it was clean. I have to tell you that I was incredibly surprised at the powerful cleaning performance of the Eureka AirSpeed! Although it is not as easy manuever as my Dyson DC25, it outperforms it every time.
The AirSpeed also comes equipped with a HEPA filter to capture dust and allergens for a cleaner home, a deluxe stretch hose and wand combination offering 10 feet of reach, and a stair and upholstery brush to remove dust, allergens and pet hair. At an affordable price it offers everything that a great vacuum needs, no?
I know that you will love the Eureka AirSpeed and am so excited that I get to give one away to one of you! Just leave me a comment here, before 9pm on November 30th, sharing your best tip for keeping your floors clean. A winner will be chosen and notified on or around December 1st and notified by email.

My best tip is to clean them often! That and don’t walk on them but with 2 little ones under 5 that isn’t going to happen!
My best cleaning tip is to ask guests to remove their shoes in your house. The amount of dust and dirt tracked in with shoes is insane.

Keep kids at grandma’s house for the day! You would be amazed by the end of the day how clean your carpet still is!
Seriously, in order to maintain a clean carpet I have to vacuum everyday. Which doesn’t always happen since I have two little ones, 3 and 1, and another one arriving within a month!
My best tip is to not look too closely. Actually, I have laminate floors in the main living areas in our home and so a quick sweep once a day and a thorough mopping once a week seems to do the trick. But don’t go more than one week…that’s bad…very very bad.
I’m with Cat on this one! Shoes off makes a huge difference!

I have hardwood floors upstairs and carpet downstairs. For the hardwood I give each of my girls (4 and 2 years old) a dry mop and let them pretend to be Cinderella. Wish Cinderella used a vacuum so I could get them to clean the downstairs.
I try and keep a regular vacumm schedule… helps keep my cleaning easy to manage!
Thank you!
I let the kiddos help as much as possible!
They are young enough to still think vacuuming is “fun” so I let them vacuum as often as they want to in between my regular vacuuming!

My best tips for keeping your floors clean? Well…
1. Do not have children.
2. If #1 is impossible (or irrevocable), only permit said children to eat in a confined space, preferrably on a disposable mess mat, or better yet, outside, all the time.
3. Do not get a dog/cat/hamster/weasel/chinchilla/ferret/etc. Pet hair and dander are a clean floor’s worst nightmare. Sidenote: DigiPets are perfectly acceptable and floor-friendly.
4. Do not entertain guests, throw parties, or host any size social gathering. “Social Grazers” can do a lot of damage to floors with crumbs, spills, and messy eating habits.
5. If you MUST entertain guests, require that all visitors kindly remove their shoes upon entry. No exceptions will be made for unpolished toe nails, bunions, stinky feet, or fungal infections.
6. Do not brush your hair. If you MUST brush, do so in the shower. (Shower Disclaimer: this will probably require you to invest in an industrial strength drain product. The benefit outweighs the cost.) To account for natural human shedding, wear a shower cap, hair net, or dew rag while inside the home.
8. To keep hard surface floors tidy, spray the bottom of your socks with Pledge and glide–not walk–through your home.
If any of these recommendations cannot be executed in your home, invest in a great vacuum! Or better yet, WIN ONE, from a great blog!
I love using the Swiffer Vac on my floors. It cleans up the crumbs and dirt and makes it easier than doing it on my hands and knees.
We won’t ever ask guests to remove their shoes in our home, but we have made it a habit for ourselves. I hate to think of all the gross stuff outside that can come inside via the bottom of our shoes..yuck!
P.S. I really really need a new vacuum! Fingers crossed!
My best tip is to vacuum as often as the number of people in your house. So we have three, which means, vacuum three times a week!

My tip would be to vacuum often, especially if you have children and pets.

my best tip is to keep a door mat outside of all entry ways. I know it’s really cut down the stuff tracked in at my house- esp from the back yard!
one of my daughters favorite toys is a swifter. She between her and the dog I only have to mop once a week and we dont have any carpet in the house
My tip is to remember that kids are only little once.. just vacuum when you can and that is just fine..
My best tip for keeping floors clean is to vacuum or mop often. And, like previously mentioned, to let the kids help.

Best tip is to vaccum as many times a week as people/animals that live in your house.
Oh I hope I win this it would be such a blessing!!!
So many things hitch a ride on your shoes. Removing them when you enter the house really makes a big difference in keeping your floors clean.
We vacuum almost everyday and we also make sure we shampoo our carpets at least twice a year.
Best tips: a) be a minimalist so you don’t have to move stuff to clean which will, b) allow you to clean easier and quicker and more often! Also, get a vacuum you don’t hate to use and you will be much more likely to use it… on that note, I could really really really use a new one!
I agree with those who said- Shoes off! I also saw a great tip related to this in Martha Stewart’s magazine. Keep a basket of beautiful, clean slippers next to the door for guests to wear if they’d like.
I wish I had a good tip…I have a 3 year old boy and 1 year old girl, so my floors are rarely clean! But I love my swiffer!
We don’t wear shoes in our home and *try* to at least sweep up after mealtime.
My best tip is not only shoes off in the house, but also wear socks. I find that bare feet make my floors dirtier than socked feet. Thanks!
Oh good golly – do you know how much we need this giveaway? We’ve been borrowing our neighbors. Going without a vacuum with quadruplets is just not working…
My best tip? Leave your (and everyone elses) shoes at the door. It saves so much from being tracked into the house!

Do not let, yes, I said do not let the husband vacuum! He shouldn’t even be let in the house sometimes! He can do the very hardest things, like build a house and replace car motors, but vacuuming seems to be incredibly frustrating for the guy!! He has always hated the vacuum and has consequently rendered mine inoperable! I think he tried to take it apart and make it more powerful, argh!! Go figure!!
Well, here are some of the things we do to keep our floors clean
1) I keep a swiffer in the corner of my kitchen – I run that over the kitchen floor often to puck up the small things that would otherwise get stuck in our socks/slippers and then be carried to the carpets elsewhere in the house
2) I keep a small mat in front of the stairs going to our bedrooms. Once again, to prevent the crumbs, and other things on my floor from going upstairs with me
3) don’t forget to rake your leaves. sounds silly but everytime my door gets opened leaves come in and then the drop chews it, etc and now I have leave crumbs all over
We also have a “no shoes on the carpet” rule. It’s amazing how much dirt 5 little boys can track in! We also tell the kids,no food or drink outside the kitchen/dining area. They don’t always follow it but it helps!
My tip isn’t for carpet, but ceramic tile. I like to keep it pretty natural, but when it came to the grout in my tile nothing worked. I mean nothing. I even had tried straight up Clorox bleach (eek!). The previous owners had put in white tile with white grout….in the KITCHEN. Really? Really?! Yup. Finally I figured out that dilluted Arm & Hammer Washing Soda worked with a toothbrush and some elbow grease. Make sure time is on your side with this project folks. LOL. It worked wonders. I am actually going to post it to my blog one of these days. I don’t advise doing this often, but it worked wonders. Otherwise I sweep a lot and vacuum thoroughly. Thanks for the chance!

we keep a basket by the door for shoes….makes a big difference in our carpet cleanliness. However, I have an older vacuum and I’d love to try the new Eureka. Maybe you will give me a chance.
I’m not so good at keeping them clean so the Eureka would come in very handy! My one tip is to clean solid surfaces with dilute vinegar – it cleans well and leaves a fresh smell!
My best tip is, do not enter the house with your shoes on!!!!!
Well, with 2 kids (4 & 7) and one large dog, I don’t think the floor ever really gets clean for very long! I do vaccum often, but I also have a wet vac that I use once a month! It’s the only way to keep it even remotely clean. A new vaccum could definitely help!
We have wooden floors & the only way to keep them clean to is to vacuum & mop every night while my son is sleeping.
We don’t wear shoes in the house & use a splat mat under the high chair to try to minimize the mess on the floors.
