Decorate Your Heart Out With Wilton {A Giveaway}

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on November 9, 2010

This past summer, just before Wilton announced their completely refreshed Wilton Method cake decorating class program, I had a chance to visit their headquarters just outside of Chicago. Even though I was pregnant and mostly feeling miserable, I had a blast and not only got to learn the Wilton decorating basics, but I also got a crash course in flowers and cake design. Even though I had been decorating cakes for years, without any official training as an adult, I learned so much!

Of course, the best part of the trip was the amazing people that I got to meet and spend time with while there! One of these talented and fun people was Angie, a Celebration Expert for Wilton. Here she is in the video below, in fact, to tell you all about how Wilton Method instructors can help you experience the thrill of creating cakes and treats that will delight your friends and family—even if you’ve never decorated before…

Wilton is offering a fabulous prize package for one very lucky From Dates to Diapers’ reader – a free Wilton decorating class for the winner AND a friend, the course kit, and selected supplies! (Transportation is not included.) What a fun gift these classes would be!

How to enter::

Leave a comment, here on this post, before 9pm (pst) on November 27th, telling me about the cake design you most look forward to learning how to create and why. One winner will be chosen and notified by email, on or around November 28th… Just in time for Christmas!

I made 30 goals for my 30th year and one of them is to take the Wilton Cake decorating class so I can make my kiddos nice birthday cupcakes in the Spring. My husband was recently laid off due to the economy so winning this prize would be huge in helping me accomplish my goals!

I’d really love the Flowers and Cake Design class. I’ve tried many times to create flowers & just can’t get the hang of it. Would love to make a beautiful cake using flowers.
Thanks so much.

I would really like to learn how to make fondant icing and roll it over cakes. My last cake creation was a disaster and I was embarrased to deliver it to the birthday girl.

I’d love to take this class with my daughter. She is 16 and loves to bake. Learning to frost would be alot of fun for both of us. It would be great if they could teach us how to frost cakes to look like turtles or bunnies since those seem to be her younger brothers cakes of choice.

I would love to take a fondant class. I took a cake decorating class many many years ago with my mom. I really enjoyed it. However, fondant was not something that we learned and I would love to be able to work with that medium. This is especially important to me because my nephew is getting married next year and I am supposed to help make his wedding cake. I would love to wow them with a fondant creation.

I must confess, I’d have to go with the basics. I can’t do basic flowers, which are always a hit on cakes! I can’t see me taking the fondant and gumpaste class, since I feel that fondant is something you afflict on people rather than joyfully surprise them with.

I’ve always wanted to try decorating cakes. I think that roses are some of the hardest things to learn and would love to make them. I’m not exactly sure what type of cake I would like to make – probably something for my son’s birthday. Even though it falls close to Thanksgiving, I’d like to do a cake that is NOT turkey related. :)
