In just a bit over a week I will be attending the biggest conference known to women bloggers – BlogHer. I just about have my little kiddos squared away for the weekend, and I’m excited. I’m also just a little bit nervous.
You see, I’ve met some of these phenomenal bloggers before, talked with them face-to-face, even pumped my liquid gold with them sitting on the bed next to me, chatting away. I already know Amy and Jane like me. But, this is a whole new set of fantastic bloggers. Janice and Susan will be there. Megan and Arianne. Steph and Steph.
I have to say that my insecurities are again rearing their ugly heads… What will I say? Will my virtual friends like me in real life? Will my shoes be cute enough to walk with the likes of brilliant people? I’ve heard it said that these are the same feelings one has in high school, but I never experienced any of this in my high school years.
What’s a girl to do?
Buy some new clothes, of course. It’s amazing how fun and sassy I feel after buying a new outfit, even if that outfit is purchased at Target or Old Navy. And then, naturally, I will need some cute shoes to go with those cute new outfits. After all, I wear flip-flops day in and day out. It’s time to pull out the red high heels, baby!
So, I will be wearing cute shoes to BlogHer. But, I’m hoping that the lovely gals at 5 Minutes for Mom can help me with the dilemma of affording them. (After all, I still have to book my hotel room, and that’s gonna cost a pretty penny, since we waited ’til the very last minute, and my kids drink too much milk!) Janice and Susan are hosting a fabulous giveaway over at their place. One lucky BlogHer attendee will win a $250 HP scholarship.
I’m hoping it’s me!

I just wrote about my red shoes yesterday!!
I am bringing my red patent heels, baby. But of course!
I am seriously nervous, I have never met anyone IRL before…but what the heck. 4 days to myself, no kids, in a 4 star hotel with free wi-fi. How could that be a fail?
T.
ha ha, I posted about this last week (my first time to BlogHer) except my analogy was my buying shoes at Payless and not feeling worthy!
If you haven’t gotten your hotel yet (or even if you have, if you can cancel it)–priceline rocks. I can walk you through it if you email me, but you can select the area–near the conference–and I’d bet you could get a good room for $150 or less (and a Best Western type room for even less).
Well I’ve never been one to understand fashion. My new shoes for BlogHer are red, but they’re Keen sandles. ha ha!
I can’t wait to meet you…and my red high heels will be making an appearance at the conference too.
dang, if only it was in L.A., I would so just :show up” LOL..
yeah next year it should be in Los Angeles!!!
YEY! Can’t wait to meet you.
Christine, it will be so great to finally meet you!
