The Scott Common Sense online community is a great place to go for tips, helpful tools, and special offers. This month, they have been celebrating all things related to rejuvenation on Scott Common Sense and want to help one of you relax by saving you a trip to the store…. They’re giving away a year supply of Scott Towels and Bath right here at From Dates to Diapers!

Here’s how to enter:

My favorite household tip is how to get rid of clutter in stages. I always say start at one wall first in small stages before tackling the rest of the room.

I love the idea of using a small paintbrush to clean out sippy cup lids. So much more pleasant than the pinky!!!

I LOVE the Clorox cleaning wipes. I use them to clean practically anything! They work great on fingerprints on the wall and my favorite, cleaning the mini blinds.

After cooking dinner, spray down your counters and stove top and let it sit while you eat. When it’s time to do dishes, any messes are dissolved and easy to wipe up.

Organize your household bills in due date order, writing the due date and amount on the outside of the envelope. This makes it easier to plan for expenses.

While I am brushing my teeth with my power tooth brush, I clean off my bathroom counter at the same time. You can get a lot done in two minutes!

I keep my pantry organized by having one area for canned fruit, one for vegetables, one for soup, one for sauces. I keep extras of everything on the top shelf.

I love Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser. I use it to clean walls, clean my stove, and clean my refrigerator door and handles. It works better tnan anything I have tried. vidomich(at)yahoo(dot)com

My cleaning tip is to get a portable hand-held steamer. I LOVE mine. It makes me feel like I am sanitizing without harsh chemicals.

Laundry tip: With lots of family members wearing white sox it is hard to keep them all straight. I use a laundry marker and mark on the bottom of the sock a small initial for each family member. It’s easy to keep them assigned to the right person. Thanks for the giveaway.

“Buy your fresh-cut herbs and rinse with cold water. Dampen your SCOTT paper towels and wrap your herbs in the towels and place in a plastic bag. Press out the air and seal. There you have it — fresh herbs up to 2 weeks.” What a great tip this is! Those herbs always end up going bad before I have a chance to use them again. Now they won’t :)

To keep your children’s school papers and homework organized, take expanding files and tape them to the wall. Put their names on the folders. Each night the child puts their papers in the folder. Then it’s easy for you to check and their papers never get lost! :D

To get the microwave clean easily. We place a bowl of water inside and heat until steaming. Then let the microwave set for a while the stuff wipes right out. It works the same as those pricey microwave cleaning things without costing a cent. My teen girls are so greatful for this idea, cause since they are the biggest culprits of the micro diasters I make them clean it.

To keep my kitchen sponge fresh, I wash it in the dishwasher with a load of dishes. This same method can be used on toothbrushes.

I use dish liquid in the bath tub to clean that soap scum ring. It wipes right out with no scrubbing.

I used to wait until my daughter went to take a nap to do household chores, because she would just be making a mess elsewhere that I would have to clean up after my first initial task (it was instantly double the work!). Now, I have my daughter “help” me with whatever I am doing. It isn’t exactly helping me, but she is occupied with a task that will not make a mess! When I am dusting, I hand her a dry rag so she can dust (no chemicals), when I am doing dishes (by hand – we have no dishwasher) she is helping me rinse, when I vacuum she is helping to move the coffee table and helping to hold the wire. This has made it so nap time is ME time and I get a much needed break!

So my tip is get your kids involved in cleaning, they think its fun (little do they know) and it instills in them an attitude of helping around the house for later on! It may seem like a little extra work but it is better than them messing up stuff right behind you!

Teach your kids (young!) how to clean they way you want them to clean. It takes time at first, but it will save you TONS of time later!

Well there’s a lot of tips, I haven’t read them all yet. I’m a natural cleaner, must have vinegar, baking soda and newspaper handy at all times. Newspaper really cleans your windows the best,so take it from the recycle pile and put it to use.

Keep a large calendar in the kitchen with all appointments and parties and such so everyone in the family can see what would conflict with what is already planned.

Believe it or not, I actually have papertowel holders “installed” {i.e. screwed in} on the wall in our bedroom and by my desk in the living room since we spend a lot of time in those spaces. It makes for easy clean up without having to run clear to the kitchen for paper towels. At first I was worried it would look tacky, but I think it looks pretty good and it’s definetly helped out a lot so it’s worth it!

My favorite household tip is the new Magic Eraser MOP!!! It’s great and you can get it at the dollar store for cheap!
