Nintendo Favorites

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on December 8, 2009

I was never a fan of video games, growing up. In fact, I never thought we would own a gaming system, let alone three. The Wii, DS, and DSi are great family-friendly systems, each with it’s own unique draw. Gifts to Make your Nintendo Junkie Grin!

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on December 9, 2008

Everyone’s video game library should be stocked with games that encourage learning, adventure, and inspire action. Some of the best games to play on our favorite video game console can be found below. Our favorites are marked, so make sure you check those out first!
.

.
Family Game Night (Wii): Join your host, Mr. Potato Head, as you and your family play classic Hasbro games, as well as exciting new versions of old favorites created for the Nintendo Wii. Hasbro Family Game Night features family favorites such as Connect Four, Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, SORRY! and the all new, SORRY! Sliders.

Mario Kart
(Wii): The worldwide race is on with this fast-paced and action-packed racing game. Our family loves to race for first place in Grand Prix circuits or clear skill-based missions. The Wii wheel transforms your Wii remote controller into a steering wheel that is super easy to steer and simulates the “real thing.” We race for hours, playing Mario Kart, as this is one of our favorites!

Nerf-n-Strike
(Wii): Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to target the demolition of a hostile secret organization. Unleash the switch shot EX-3 as you master the greatest arsenal of Nerf Blasters ever assembled and blast through danger.

Pet Pals: Animal Doctor (Wii): Do you have what it takes to diagnose and treat your favorite animals, including dogs, cats, birds, horses, rodents, fish and reptiles? This realistic simulation includes over 40 different medical instruments, and helpful hints, as you perform surgeries to save animals using your Wii remote. Perfect for the animal lovers on your list!
*Enter to win Pet Pals: Animal Doctor!

Animal Crossing: City Folk with Wii Speak (Wii): We are excited to build snowmen, exchange presents, and decorate our house for the holidays in our own little community in this fun game. Each day is a new day, with much to explore in Animal Crossing: City Folk… We can meet our neighbors, visit the city, or even get a makeover. But, not much can compare to hanging out with friends, or visiting Grandma, using the Wii Speak microphone!

Build-A-Bear Workshop (Nintendo Wii and DS): For the little ones who love Build-A-Bear, this game will be a perfect addition to their video game library. Both the DS and Wii versions allow children to build a stuffed friend and participate in all sorts of fun activities.

Rubik’s World (Wii and DS): This game is a fusion of colors, music and puzzles, allowing players to build their own soundtracks and solve intricate puzzles and challenges. This game is based on the iconic Rubik’s Cube, and increases in difficulty as players improve, created for teenagers and adults.

Neopets: Puzzle Adventure (Wii and DS): This game lets players create and develop one of 12 Neopets characters by completing quests, playing mini-games, and battling others. Players embark on an epic story and travel through three Lands of Neopia with more than 150 quests, while collecting “PetPets” for special abilities.

Personal Training: Cooking
(DS): As moms, we all need a little help sometimes. How would you feel if I told you that you could invite a chef into your kitchen, who would show you how to make over 240 recipes from around the world? Well, you can with the Personal Trainer: Cooking! This interactive cookbook features easy to follow step-by-step instructions and detailed videos. One of the features that I appreciate most is that you can create shopping lists and store them on your DS. This is a perfect gift for the budding chef in your life, or for yourself. (Watch for my video review, coming soon!)

Tropix
(DS): This game was a life saver at the airport last week… My twins played it for nearly the entire time we sat waiting for our delayed flight to LAX. They both love puzzles and adventures, both of which are found in Tropix. They competed to win Sand Dollars and traveled to exotic places for new gaming challenges. This game also includes word games, sudoku puzzles and other fun challenges, making this a great game for the older kiddos, as well.

Zoo Vet (DS): Much like Pet Pals, you can test your skills as an Animal Doctor in this fun and educational DS game. Using your stylus you can give check-ups, treat major and minor illnesses, and even perform surgeries. Emergencies sometimes arise and players must act fast or risk losing an animal’s life!
*Enter to win Zoo Vet!

Pokemon: Ranger Shadows of Almia
(DS): My twins have been begging for this game for Christmas, so I just may have to oblige them! From what I hear it’s a unique action-adventure in which players complete certain Quests, which allows the player to advance as they work to eventually become a Top Ranger (the most revered Ranger of all).

Sally’s Salon (DS): Now, of course we couldn’t leave out some of the girlie games! In Sally’s Salon your little stylin’ diva can work with Sally to beautify everyone, from little old ladies to punk rockers, in 10 unique salon locations. Wash, dye, cut, style and more in 50 levels of frantic, but fashionable, fun. She can then use her earnings to hire helpful employees and purchase salon upgrades to keep her clients looking and feeling their best. Only the stylist with the happiest (and best-looking) customers will make the cut in this frenzy of family fun!

Hello Kitty Big City Dreams (DS): In the exploration mode, Kitty moves around her apartment, explores the Big City and interacts with inhabitants and items she comes across. In the mini-game mode, Kitty will play through a variety of mini-games and earn friendship points that will allow her to purchase costumes, ride the bus or train, and of course customize her apartment.

Now this one’s for the die-hard Nintendo junkie ~ Did you know you can have Mario call, or email, your friends or family with your Nintendo wish list? Check it out!
