Giving Back with a Walmart Christmas Toy Haul

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on December 23, 2011

Walmart armed us with a $50 gift card and sent us out to purchase some toys. These toys were not for my kiddos, mind you, but to give to kids in need within our community. Since Ray and I are teaching our children the value of giving, this challenge was more than welcome.

So, off we went to find some good deals and fun toys…

I am a participant in the Walmart Moms program. Walmart provided me with compensation for my time and efforts on this post and video. Participation in this program is voluntary. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

Pick Up Today

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on May 22, 2011

As a Walmart Mom, I was sent out on a mission this last week. My mission was to try one of Walmart’s new services – Pick Up Today. Pick Up Today makes fast, free delivery possible for online shopping. The idea is that you can order online at Walmart.com and pick up your item later that day at your local Walmart, with no shipping fees.

I decided to purchase the new RIO Wii game for Ben. Since he loved the movie, I knew it would be a nice surprise, not only for him, but for all of my kids. So, on Friday morning I hopped online, selected our nearest Walmart and purchased the game, hoping to pick it up that afternoon, so we could have a game night with the kids.

Now, I love the concept of Pick Up Today. I mean, think about it… I have seven kids. It’s hard to shop with all of them sometimes. Especially if I just need one or two items.

It’s quite possible that, since the service is so new, they are still working out the glitches. But, honestly, I’m not sure that I will ever use the service again. As shown below, my order should have been ready 4 hours after I received my confirmation email at around noon. I did not receive a Ready for Pickup email until 24 hours after I placed my order, meaning my order wasn’t ready until just about noon the next day. After family game night.

Pick Up Today is not yet available in all locations, so be sure you check your local Walmart. It will be available on thousands of items across many different categories, including Electronics, Media & Gaming, Toys, Sporting Goods, Kitchen, Home Décor, and Baby (excluding apparel).

Talk back!

What do you think of the concept? Do you think you would ever try Pick Up Today?

I have been compensated by Walmart, as a Walmart Mom, for my time and efforts to create this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Putting the Dyson Digital Slim to the Test

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on April 30, 2011

We’ve been making good use of the Dyson DC35 that we recently received for review. More accurately, my kids have been making good use of it. But, only because they beg to clean up any mess they see with this cool looking machine!

This video will show you a quick look at the Dyson design and tests lab. Pretty interesting stuff!

I have yet to use this cordless vac much, but I will soon give my thoughts. Dyson actually sent us some challenges, so we could really put the Dyson DC35 to the test. Stay tuned to see how I think it did!

So, what do you think – do you think you could put this vacuum to use in your home?
