Being a Walmart Mom has it’s perks, but I have to say that I am most excited by opportunities that help us give to those in need. This month, each of the Walmart Moms were given a $100 gift card to purchase some of this year’s top toys from Walmart for a charity of our choice. I actually chose to use the gift card to help shop for a specific family – a family of soon to be TEN, no less! Follow along as we choose items for this family of mostly girls… something certainly outside of our comfort zone. While we did go over $100 just a bit, I think we did pretty well.
I have been compensated for my time and efforts to create this post and video.
Are you looking for the perfect gift for some of those kiddos in your life? Well, I have some great ideas! Whether you need to find that one item for your nieces, nephews or your own little one still left on your shopping list, check out some of our favorites.
Paper Jamz have been a big hit here in the Young house. These paper-thin instruments are available in the form of guitars, drums and amplifiers and are easy enough for even my littlest guys to rock out!
The Leapster Explorer is, by far, our favorite LeapFrog product, thus far. With endless ways to play, the Explorer offers games and activities, as well as the option to download apps, videos and ebooks. I’m looking forward to adding the camera accessory so my kiddos can use the Explorer to capture pictures and video without stealing my phone or Flip!
Loopz is a fabulously fun memory game that challenges the reflexes of every member of the family. With seven ways to play, Loopz provides hours of entertainment.
Although I would highly recommend each of the items in this post, I have been compensated for my time and efforts to tell you about some of hottest toys this Christmas. Be sure you check out the rest of Walmart’s Top Toys!
BigFoot is always feeling moody … can you relate? I certainly can, especially these days. One minute I’m feeling on top of the world, the next just a wee bit impatient and grumpy. I can blame it on hormones, but what about BigFoot? One things for sure and for certain – he’s a guy who’s in high demand! (Kind of like a mom with seven kiddos maybe? heehee)
I’ve been having fun with the BigFoot App on Facebook where I can let all of my friends know what kind of mood I’m in. I typically did that anyway, but this app brings sharing my mood to a whole new level. I hope you’ll check out the app and then enter The Bigfoot Moods Sweepstakes for a chance to win your very own Bigfoot the Monster! How much fun would it be to put one of these guys under your tree this Christmas?!
I have been compensated for my participation in this campaign.
My kiddos were extremely excited to try the new Moon Dough Barnyard Playset that we received just before our vacation. Well, I pulled it out today and let them all go to town…
Not only is Moon Dough incredibly messy, but it was difficult for my youngest little guys – the targeted age for this set -to use the mold in just such a way to actually create the barn animals. Noah lost interest fairly quickly, but the twins came to the rescue and were able to create smooth and consistent cows, roosters and sheep for Ben.
Moon Dough looks and feels like wet sand before molded, however it resembles big, fluffy marshmallows when molded into fun shapes. All in all, I think my kiddos enjoyed making a huge mess, mixing the three colors that came with the set, and squishing the dough between their fingers.
I’m thinking that, although the dough is never supposed to dry out and it really is easy to clean up, we would need to purchase Moon Dough Refill Packs if the kiddos ever want to play with it again. I suppose it’d be fun to add a few more colors to the mix!
I received this playset to review as a member of Team Mom. No monetary compensation was received. As always, all opinions are mine.
Tweet We returned home late one evening, from a fun day out and about, to a package on our front doorstep. Not entirely an infrequent occurance, but certainly one that excited my younger two kiddos! Why? you ask. Well, the package on our doorstep contained a brand new Pop On Pals Amusement Park Playset, complete [...]
Tweet Just before BlogHer, this last summer, we were sent a Zhu Zhu Pets package, from Mom Select, containing a hamster and complete “habitrail.” Although my kiddos had a fun time with this set, I honestly didn’t think much of this little package until long after I returned from Chicago. Now, I’m not quite so [...]
Tweet Playskool recently sent us the Busy Ball Popper for Noah to check out. At Playskool they believe that play stimulates the senses, engages the imagination, encourages curiosity, and empowers children’s sense of self confidence by allowing them to discover the world at their own pace. I totally agree! As a homeschooling mom, I also [...]
Tweet Little Miss Julia has been begging me to take her for a special “girl’s night” to see Hannah Montana The Movie, which debuted in theaters last week. The movie sounds pretty cute – Miley gets too caught up in the celebrity lifestyle and starts letting her alter ego “Hannah Montana” dominate her life. Her [...]
Tweet Do your kiddos ever grab your camera and run off with it? My Julia is the biggest culprit around here… She loves to snap wild and crazy pictures of everything, including silly self-portraits! Now, it would be a bad thing to let my camera get in the hands of my younger kiddos. That’s where [...]

Tweet I missed out on the virtual pet craze in the 90s (too old without kids of my own, I guess) and have a hard time spelling Tamagotchi even now! What I do know is that, for the first time ever, kiddos can raise multiple Tamagotchi characters in one egg with the Tamagotchi Connection V5 [...]
Tweet Kids with their toys… Keeping busy for hours! Below you will see one of each of my kiddos’ new favorites. All of them are available at your local retail outlets. I have to say that just after receiving the fabulous toys mentioned below my twins decided, all on their own, to clean out their [...]
