"I’m hooked!"

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on September 18, 2007

***See below for UPDATED info on how to get your very own Moby!***

My sister has found the perfect way to carry her son, Alex, without pain or discomfort.
This is what she wrote about the Moby D…

When my son, Alex, was born I used our Snuggli carrier and really enjoyed being able to have my hands free. An added bonus was that he was so happy to be so close to me. However, after he was a few months old I wasn’t able to continue using it, due to the fact that my lower back would always hurt, as well as my neck because of all the strain put there. I got a Baby Bjorn and found the same problem; if it wasn’t immediate pain I would wake up the next morning feeling the effects. The carriers just didn’t cut it for me. My son isn’t a big boy either – He is 10 months old now and only 19 pounds.

A few months ago my sister (that would me moi!) told me about the Moby D, and even let me borrow hers to see if I liked it. I used it that same day and I loved it! I was able to go shopping, with my son wrapped close to me, for hours without feeling one bit of strain on my back or neck. To be honest, I could hardly tell he was there. Even the next day there were no signs of pain. I just had to get one of the stylish wraps for myself. I am hooked on it now. I love it! Alex loves it too! When I go grocery shopping I wrap him up, facing out, and he feels like he is on his own… He even puts his hands on the shopping cart and thinks he’s the king of the world!

If you have yet to find the perfect way to wear your baby, you should really get yourself a Moby wrap – You and your little one will love it!

I have a Black with Black Silk like this one –

Great New Baby Care Products

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on September 11, 2007

Playskool has been making toys that help your child grow, develop, and learn for more than 75 years. Now, this trusted brand has introduced Playskool Baby Care, a line of diapers, wipes, and feeding & grooming accessories available exclusively at CVS/pharmacy.

We just recently had an opportunity to try this new line of baby care products, and I must say, I was extremely impressed by the quality and design of each piece.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingSince it is compact and complete, I threw this 4-piece Infant/Toddler Grooming Set in the diaper bag, for on the go convenience. It has everything I need to keep the kiddos nails trimmed and manicured. Each piece is safe and easy to use – I even turned to the clippers to trim a broken nail while on a date with hubby!

Playskool has diapers, baby wipes, pacifiers, bibs, teethers… Just about everything you can imagine for baby’s needs.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingOne of our favorite items is the Easy Grip Bowl… Ben, at 18 months, has no problem feeding himself when he can grab the side of the bowl as he fills his spoon with yummy goodness!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe 3-Stage Nurser is perfect for his little hands with it’s side handles… For Ben we exchanged the nipple for the soft sipper spout for his juice with lunch. Very convenient!

Playskool has several different cups and eating utensils from which to choose… They have some thing for EVERY stage!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingBen drinks a bottle-full of milk at every nap and even at bedtime, so we tried the Playskool Wide-Neck Bottle. Now, let me tell you, he has NEVER been a huge fan of ANY bottle except one particular brand, HOWEVER he had no problem going ni-night with his new bottle with the Gloworm on the side!

For any mom who wants quality and convenience, at an affordable price, check out Playskool products, available only at CVS/Pharmacy, for all your baby care needs!

I’m a Baby Wearin’ Mama! (A review and a GIVEAWAY)

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on September 10, 2007

I have worn a lot of babies in my career as a mommy, but for some time I have wanted to find a comfortable way to wear my babies. I had (and unfortunately used) a well-know baby carrier with my first four, tried the cheap over-the-shoulder infant slings, wanted desperately to buy an Ergo Carrier (but didn’t) when I had Ben, BUT was determined to find a fashionable sling or baby carrier, for this new little one, that would be comfortable and not kill my back.

Natacha and Lisa, from Rockin’ Baby Shop, sent me the “Origin of Love” Baby Pouch and it has truly been a lifesaver over the last several weeks! Baby Noah has no desire but to be held, preferably by moi, and I am anticipating that I will be turning to my pouch for many hours of hands-free baby carrying.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingNoah just loves to be nestled so close. Among other things, I have been able to teach the older kids, wash the dishes, blog, and even nurse him… all while he is nestled close, quite content, just where he loves to be! The best part about my Rockin’ Baby sling is that it is so very comfortable to wear Baby in and it seriously doesn’t kill my back or shoulders!

An added bonus is that I honestly feel like a superstar while wearing Baby out in public!! I have been complimented and congratulated more while carrying Noah in my Rockin’ Baby sling then ever before. (It’s a good thing the attention doesn’t bother me!!)

Rockin’ Baby pouches and slings are super easy to use and take just seconds to get baby in and out. All carriers are hand made by hardworking moms, and even the company itself was founded by two hip moms (Lisa and Natasha) who firmly believe in babywearing, and wanted to fill the need for cool, stylish and functional slings.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingGuess what? I have a Ziggy Stardust baby Pouch to give away to one very lucky mama or papa (yes, daddies wear their babies, too!) who thinks babywearing is rockin’!! If you don’t have a little one to wear, it would make a great gift!

Here’s how to enter:

1) Sign the Mr. Linky below.

2) Leave a comment telling me which Rockin’ Baby sling or pouch is your favorite. There are so many wonderful fabrics to choose from, so take your time browsing Rockin’ Baby’s selection!

Don’t let the bed-bugs bite!

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on September 5, 2007

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I was recently contacted by CleanRest to review their products. My twins and I suffer from asthma and I am prone to seasonal allergies, so I when I found out that CleanRest products were created by a concerned dad, for his son who suffered from nighttime breathing and sleeping difficulties, I jumped at the opportunity to try out the mattress and pillow encasements.
Now, I knew all about bed bugs – those “small nocturnal insects that live by feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts.” But, upon reading the Protect Your Sleep Blog, I found out about other harmful micro-toxins, allergens and the dust mites that also live inside everyone’s mattress and pillows… Ugggh. I mean, who wants to be sleeping with things that can cause breathing problems and/or can actually bite you??? I certainly don’t, nor do I want my kids exposed to such things.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe encasements, created by Gary Goldberg, with a weave so tiny that no allergen or liquid can penetrate it, are very comfortable and breathable. They were, at first, a bit crinkly, but after being washed they really did soften up and I really don’t notice they are there. Peace of mind has created a much more peaceful night sleep, with less breathing problems!

CleanRest encasements come in many different sizes. You can even get one for your baby’s crib mattress! They can be purchased at www.cleanrest.com or at many stores nationwide.

Oh, and for you concerned mommies out there, these encasements have been certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and have been given the iParenting Media Award.

Soft and Silky Mommy Hands

August 31, 2007

Tweet Several weeks ago I was sent a product sample of Skin MD Natural™ to assess. After reading all about how and why this product was formulated and other people’s testimonies, I was very eager to try this lotion on my hands. So many times throughout the day do I wash my hands, the kiddos [...]

Protect Baby’s Cheeks

August 8, 2007

Tweet Butt Paste.. The name evokes giggles and bubbling laughter from my twin boys, but my daughter has deemed the name “inappropriate.”Funny how the two differ so… Anyhow, any mom to whom I have ever spoken, who has tried Boudreaux’s Butt Paste, will never look back. Even Oprah loves Butt Paste! (Whatever that’s worth, since [...]

August 4, 2007

Unruly, "Knotty" Hair vs Beautiful, Silky Locks

July 30, 2007

Tweet I was a bald little one, until I was two – which is really quite surprising considering that since then I have always had a very thick and wavy head of hair. As a little girl, I remember my Mom spending so much time brushing, pulling and braiding my hair! My daughter inherited my [...]

Water… The best way to stay cool!

July 13, 2007

Tweet My kiddos are constantly asking for something to drink, especially in these hot, summer months. They’ve given up on asking for soda (we don’t generally have it in the house anymore), but when they can get their hands on juice boxes, they are in heaven. I was thinking, though, about the amount of sugar [...]
