Don’t Miss Out on Spa Week!

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on October 2, 2013

I am so excited about Spa Week. Spa Week’s bi-annual event takes place every spring and fall. That means that October 14th through October 20th, hundreds of spas across the US and Canada will offer full-service, signature spa treatments at the major discount of just $50 each! In the Austin area alone, I can choose from massages, facials, pedicures and manicures, and more! It is a perfect time to try something new.

In fact, I was treated to a “Mascara Look” eyelash extension application at Face to Face Spa at Avery Ranch. Oh my, was it divine! The application itself was incredibly relaxing. For over two hours I “had to” keep my eyes closed and lay perfectly still. Bummer, huh? 50 artificial lashes were applied to each of my eyes to create the “mascara look.”

My friend warned me that artificial lashes were “like a drug” and that I’d be “addicted” right away. Boy, were you right, Beth! Not only were the ladies at Face to Face Spa absolutely amazing (and super sweet, to boot), but take look at my before and after images…

Wouldn’t YOU be hooked? I’m thinking about becoming a monthly member of Face to Face Spa for the eyelash extensions alone, but considering they threw in an eyebrow wax and were all just wonderful, I’m seriously hooked!

Check out Spa Week Daily for the latest and greatest spa, health and wellness news. You can also find the spas nearest you that offer the Spa Week $50 deals, including the “Mascara Look” eyelash extension application from Face to Face at Avery Ranch!

Disclosure: I received the eyelash application in exchange for the promotion of Spa Week. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful Cover Girl

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on February 26, 2010

I don’t know about you, but I certainly do not have much time (if any at all) to apply makeup. In fact, eye makeup takes a back seat, most days, to cover up and a bit of blush. You may be excited as I was to discover that Cover Girl just made things easier for us busy moms with their Smoky Eye Kits, available exclusively at Walmart.

CoverGirl smoky eye kit

These fabulous kits come in three different looks – Natural, Glamorous and Bold – and include everything you need to enhance your beautiful eyes – SmokyShadow Blast, LashBlast Volume Mascara, and LineExact Liquid Liner Pen. The best part? There are step-by-step instructions included for those of us who need some extra help. {wink, wink}

Collective Bias, on behalf of CoverGirl, sent me a Walmart gift card so I may purchase my very own kit. I chose The Natural Look, since I tend to wear brown eye makeup when I wear any at all. Even though I have a favorite shadow and liner that I use pretty consistently, I was excited to try something new.

{I tried to create a Whrrl Story and got frustrated with my pictures. sigh. I’ll try again later.}

Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m a fan of creamy eye shadow or liquid eyeliner. Time will only tell. I do have to say that the look has worn very nicely into the evening. While I was very impressed with the LashBlast Volume Mascara, I still love CoverGirl’s Exact EyeLights Mascara!

Well, guess what? CoverGirl would love for YOU to have a chance to try their new Smoky Eye kits! I have four to give away to my friends here at From Dates to Diapers!

e.l.f.

I had the opportunity to attend a special e.l.f. Cosmetics gathering at BlogHer this last summer and was sent home with some fun goodies – a nail kit and a makeup kit. It was then that I fell in love with this line! e.l.f. offers quite the variety of items for eyes, lips, and face; all at affordable prices. (Think Wet ‘n Wild prices, but Bare Essentials quality!) And, guess what was just announced? e.l.f. Cosmetics will be available at Target come November 1st!

This line has certainly become one of my favorites! Even before BlogHer, I won a gift certificate from a party hosted by my friend Audrey and just the other day ordered some fab items. I’m even hosting a party next month and will be giving tons of great products to my guests, courtesy of e.l.f.

This week, I am planning to attend Blog World Expo and e.l.f. is one of my sponsors. Now, I’m not saying how much I love their products just because they are my sponsor – quite the contrary – e.l.f. is my sponsor because of my passion for their products!

e.l.f. CMO, Ted Rubin, will be participating in the Collective Bias Brands & Bloggers Speed Dating event on Saturday, and I am excited to be involved. If you’re going to be at Blog World Expo this weekend, make sure you stop by.

If you’re not able to make it to Blog World Expo this week, no worries! I have a large makeup kit, like the one shown above, to give to one lucky reader!! All you have to do is link to this giveaway on your blog, facebook wall, or Twitter, by 9pm (pst) on October 31st. Make sure you leave me a comment here, linking to where you mentioned this giveaway, so I can come check it out!

e.l.f. cosmetics provided me with some product at no cost, and they are one of my BWE conference sponsors. All views and opinions with regard to the product or company itself are my own and were not influenced, nor reviewed, by the company prior to posting.

Beautiful Savings

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on May 15, 2009

I was so excited when my sister-in-law, Lisa, told me about her amazing beauty find and asked if she could tell you about it, too. Lisa always looks gorgeous, and I can tell you she is super picky about the makeup she uses, whether it’s for her own face or the hundreds of faces she paints as lions, super-heroes, and butterflies.

So, without further ado, a few words from Lisa…

Photobucket

It’s hard to find the time to do your makeup every morning when you’re a mom, but for me, it’s worth the effort. Makeup helps me to feel fresh and put together. It gives me an extra boost of confidence knowing that I look my best.

Over the years, I’ve found a few tricks that help me to save time on my makeup routine, and one huge contributor is using high quality makeup that’s easy to blend and looks and feels good on my face. Unfortunately, as we all know, high quality makeup usually comes with a very high price tag. Because of this, in the past, a large portion of my extra spending money would get dumped into the pockets of high end store’s cosmetic departments.

When my family decided to cut costs, some of the first things to go were my ridiculously expensive beauty products. I hit the drug stores with fervor, determined to find items that were just as good at a cheaper price. Unfortunately, what I found was that you get what you pay for. In most cases, the makeup had poor color selection, chalky consistency, and cheap packaging.

Feeling discouraged, I went home and hit my trusty computer. That’s when I stumbled across a video of a woman giving a makeup tutorial using products from Coastal Scents. She raved that she couldn’t believe such high quality products could be bought at such cheap prices. I immediately visited the website and was shocked to see the amazing selection that was offered, but even more shocked to see the price! 88 eye shadows for 21.95? It just can’t get any better than that!

After seeing the prices, though, I was a bit skeptical. I really didn’t believe that anything this inexpensive could work as well as some of my favorite brands, like Mac or Stila. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only is the Coastal Scents line just as good, some of it is even BETTER! Also, the packaging is beautiful and sturdy. It looks expensive and feels expensive for about a quarter of the price!

I’ve put together a video to show you some of my favorite products from Coastal Scents. In this video I have also given some quick tips on how to shorten your makeup routine, so you can spend less time in front of the mirror and more time with your wonderful kiddos, even while using your favorite brand!

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope this helps you to save some money and look beautiful doing it!

Lisa would love to have you visit her at her website – IllusionFaceArt.com. Oooh, and let me know if you decide to try Coastal Scents.
