Here the bells ringing
They’re singing that you can be born again
Here the bells ringing
They’re singing Christ is risen from the dead
The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead
Joy to the word, He has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
Hear the bells ringing
They’re singing that you can be healed right now
Hear the bells ringing, they’re singing
Christ, He will reveal it now
The angels, they all surround us
And they are ministering Jesus’ power
Quickly now, reach out and receive it
For this could be your glorious hour
Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah, hallelujah
The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead
Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
Hallelujah
As Easter approaches and we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, we see so many things around us that remind us of new life. Today on mom-2-Mom, I talked about some of the best ideas from around the blogosphere. From the Resurrection Egg and traditional hard-cooked and decorated Easter eggs to cute little chicks – Each one can help you celebrate Spring and our Risen Lord.
Dying eggs naturally
Amy, aka The Crunchy Domestic Goddess, dyes her eggs with natural foods. Did you know that it is better for you and your kiddo’s health, than those commercial egg dye kits? And, it can be way more fun! She has the best tutorial in the blogosphere for dyeing eggs naturally. Amy uses items you may already have in your pantry or refrigerator, and gives you all of the information you need for creating beautiful and incredible, edible Easter eggs!
Messages of Salvation
Resurrection eggs are a brilliant way to tell your kiddos the beautiful story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I plan to make a set of eggs for our family by using Sonya’s easy step-by-step instructions. Much in the same way these eggs tell the story of Jesus the Jelly Bean Jar shows the incredible significance of each of eight colors in the story of our salvation. Another great way to tell the story of Jesus is to make Resurrection Rolls. We did this the only day and they were not only fun to make, but they are yummy to eat!
Crafts and Basket Ideas
Crafts are a great way to celebrate Spring. If you thought that gingerbread houses were only popular at Christmas, think again! Haley makes one for every holiday, including Easter! And, what is Easter without cute chicks and bunnies! Made from styrofoam balls, tissue paper and pipe cleaners, these adorable little critters are the perfect centerpiece to any Spring themed table!
We don’t put together baskets for Easter, but if you are looking for some ideas for a unique Easter basket – one that is green, to boot – then, look no further… Lynn has some ideas for you to cut costs and waste!
Traditions
Each year, on Good Friday, our family attends a church service to reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. After the younger kiddos are in bed, Ray, the older kiddos, and I watch The Passion of the Christ and get just a small glimpse of the pain of suffering He took for us so that we may have eternal life with Him.
“But, on the third day He rose again from the dead.”
I remember, growing up, waking to the Easter Song every Easter Sunday morning. This song will always have a special significance to me as it tells the good news of the risen Lord. He is risen! Hallelujah!
I would love to hear some of the incredible ways that you prepare to celebrate Easter. Do you decorate Easter eggs, put together a treasure hunt for the neighbor kids, or maybe just soak in the warm Spring sunshine? Whatever it is, I would love to hear about it!
