Back-to-School With Lunchables

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on August 30, 2010

lunchablesWe’re all looking for healthy lunch options this back-to-school season, right? Well, the Lunchables team is committed to feeding kids’ potential by providing food that parents can feel good about and kids will enjoy, so they’re expanding their most wholesome product line with two new additions: Chicken Strips and Chicken + American Sub Sandwich. In addition, more fruit can now be found in Lunchables lunch combos with the addition of DOLE Mandarin Oranges to a couple of their varieties. I don’t know about you, but my kiddos LOVE mandarin oranges!

What else is the Lunchables team up to?

Back for its second year, the Lunch Note Promise campaign aims to help parents provide their kids with words of encouragement to help them realize their potential. Parents can go to lunchnotepromise.com to promise to include a lunch note in their kid’s lunch box. For every parent who makes the promise, Lunchables will donate $1 – up to $100,000 – to creative learning programs at the local Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Parents can even download cool stationery templates with kid-approved designs.

Lunchables also wants to help kids realize their creative dreams, and I’m excited that they are partnering with me to sponsor a fun and hands-on art party in just a couple of weeks! My talented and über-creative Aunt Theresa will be coming to help the kiddos in attendance create artistic masterpieces! (Let me know if you’re local and would like to come… I’ll send you an invite!)

Speaking of creativity, Lunchables is asking kids 6 to 13 years of age to tell them their big idea for a movie, song or video game for a chance to work with a professional mentor in their category, like Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers band, to bring it to life. What’s more, the winners will also see their idea come to life as either a movie, song or video game in 2011. Your kids can enter the Created by You contest, by visiting Lunchables.com and clicking the “Created By You” icon.

Oh, I almost forgot — We went on our Lunchables-sponsored field trip to the Exploratorium, with the Reed family, just before our vacation.. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Stay tuned!

Decorate Your Clothes

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on September 29, 2009

Julia and I received a couple of cool clothing decorating kits from JAKKS Pacific recently, and let me say we had some fun! The Attaching Kit was easy to use, there was no mess, and it was a fun way to add some pizzazz to Julia’s clothes.

The only thing that frustrated Julia was that some of the felt pieces were too thick to add together. A problem that is easily fixed, I suppose… We need to make a trip to Michael’s for some felt and we’ll cut our own deigns!

Next project – silk screening!

Crayola Makes Getting Ready 4 School FUN! (a giveaway)

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on August 7, 2009

I know I’ve mentioned before that my favorite part of preparing to start school every year, is getting our school supplies in order. Well, Crayola wants to help us beat the stress by sharing tips and creative ideas to make this back-to-school month more fun!

Every Tuesday night, this month, Crayola is sponsoring #gno, on Twitter, to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” This week I happen to be on the panel, and I’m excited to be part of the discussion on how creativity helps you build and strengthen relationships.

Crayola CreativityCast

Join us and tweet the night away with other moms, Crayola creativity experts, and get great ideas to help you prepare for the best back to school ever for your kids!

How it works:

Every Sunday through Tuesday, through the end of the month, you can RSVP for the party by clicking on the RSVP post on MomItForward.com. There, you can include your Twitter URL in the link list and see the list of other #gno gals. (If Mr. Linky is not showing up, go ahead and leave your Twitter URL in the comments, which offers #gno gals the opportunity to follow and be followed all in one place.)

Visit MomItForward.com/gno each Monday for more information and a custom Tweet Grid for that week´s event, and on Tuesday nights, tweet using the hashtag #gno and #crayola and join the convo. #gno participants will also have the chance to win great prizes.

Every week through the end of the month we’re also giving away a Crayola Creativity Pack, here at From Dates to Diapers. Each Crayola Creativity Pack includes the back-to-school list staples like 24-ct. Crayola Crayons, 10-ct, Crayola Markers and 12-ct. Colored Pencils and some of the new, innovative, affordable variations on these classics.
