Busy Weekend

Can you believe that I was so busy this weekend that I didn’t even have time to blog? Well, in addition to being busy, I have also been hit hard by the smoke-filled air and have been getting horrible headaches because of it. Fortunately it hasn’t seemed to bother our lungs much… With three asthmatics in the house, that is quite the miracle! In case you didn’t know, Northern California now has over 1000 fires currently burning.

The following is for those of you who are curious about the activities which have kept me from blogging.

Friday we had our play group over (aka my friends and their kids) for our weekly playdate. We made yummy (and very messy) ice cream sundaes and then Lisa, my sister-in-law who is a face and body artist, painted my sister Sara’s pregnant belly. Of course she couldn’t resist painting the kiddos faces, too!

Didn’t she do a great job? Since moving here she has decided to start her own company and work birthday parties, events, and even cruise ships. I am so excited for her – She really does an amazing job!

Saturday was a full day, too… Ray and I tried to figure out we want to plant in our backyard. It’s hard to find just the perfect plants, trees and shrubs. In addition to our garden, we decided on a lemon tree, lots of lavender, sunflowers, and marigolds, but have yet to pick out the rest.

My wonderful husband decided to steam clean our carpets on Saturday afternoon. Since I had already made plans with friends to have a pedicure, he was such a trooper and cleaned them all himself… Boy, did they need a good scrub! Can you imagine what living with five boys can do to the floors? Thanks, honey!!

Ray’s aunt was in town this weekend to see Chuck and Lisa’s new place, so we had dinner with the whole family at one of our favorite restaurants. Of course we then gave in to the begging and pleading and headed to “Faith’s house to play!” I had 3 dozen cupcakes to make upon our return home and stayed up way too late…

But, they were quite the hit at my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law’s engagement party this afternoon. Good conversation, great food, swimming, and lively music (thanks Luke!) made for a great party!

The kiddos are now all tucked in bed. I would like to think that they may sleep in tomorrow morning, but I fear that it is only wishful thinking.

I will now leave you with some fabulous posts from my blogging buddies:

Mom Generations (formerly Pinks & Blues) reviews the Simmons Monaco Iron Crib Collection, which will grow with baby from the nursery to the “big kid” bedroom

Mom’s Favorite Stuff reviews handcrafted and unique silver jewelry

This Full House is having a giveaway – Just in time for summer, LeapFrog is sponsoring their giveaway and one of you (yes, maybe even YOU!) will receive a TAG Reading System!

The painted pregnant belly was great! And I can oh so relate about those carpets needing to be cleanded. I have four rug rats and spills are constant, not to mention, all that they drag in from outside!

I really am articulate however, sometimes I type too fast and make mistakes! My original comment is just above this one! LOL :o )
