My name is Ali, and I blog over at My God Given Mission Field. I am a stay at home, home schooling mom of 4 from Oregon. We believe that God has given us our own mission field by giving us children. Each and every one of them are a blessing straight from God!
Some of you who already know me, know that we have been going through the adoption process hoping to be able to bring a new baby into our home. It has been a bit stressful and emotionally draining, but it will be well worth it in the end. We are now waiting patiently to be matched with a baby here in the states.
Two and a half years ago, God laid it upon our hearts to have more children. We were blessed to be able to have four children already, but it never felt like our family was quite complete yet. We desired to have more children. Since then, we have been faced with the unpleasant reality that we may be infertile. We have not been able to conceive. It has been a very emotional journey for us. It was during these trying times, that we considered adoption. Perhaps the Lord was leading us in a different direction than what we first thought.
Last February, we began our path toward adopting a baby through PLAN loving adoptions inc. We have friends who have adopted, and it seemed like it took years for them to bring their child home. For us, the time has gone by fairly quick and smooth. We are now halfway! Being halfway though, also means the agencies want their huge chunk of funds. This has brought our adoption to a screeching halt. We had hoped to use the equity from our home (which most people end up doing) to pay for it, but because of the state of our economy and the housing market, we learned that our equity wasn’t sufficient enough. It was like a dagger to my heart. To think that money is the reason keeping us from adopting a baby, is a very sad, sad thing.
Most people are hesitant to adopt, because they know how much it’s going to cost. Adoptions can cost anywhere between $10,000 and $30,000. Unless you happen to be a wealthy celebrity like Angelina Jolie or Madonna, the average family doesn’t have the luxury of having money like that on hand to plunk down at a moments notice. If we want to adopt, we have to dig, save, and fund raise to be able to pay for it. It’s a daunting task, but it’s not impossible.
What if you are one of those families, who wants to adopt and be able to give a child a loving home, but there is just no way to find the funds? What if you are like us, and don’t have equity available but still have a heart for orphans? There are options out there. It’ll take some work, but it is all possible.

i was also home schooled when i was younger and it is also a great weay to get your education.,:~
