A Diaper Disaster

by Christine - From Dates to Diapers on June 21, 2011

I remember like it was yesterday…

It was a particularly rough day. Noah was a wee baby and I was tired. I could not find my 6-year-old twins anywhere. I searched and searched, calling their names as I ran through the house. Noah woke up and began screaming and still I could find Ethan and Zach.

Out the front door I called, and still nothing. I walked around to the backyard and that’s when I saw them.

Ethan and Zach were beating the ground with small shovels, huge grins on their faces.

“Mom! Mom! We’re killing them!” they shouted.

As I walked closer I saw it – open, POOPY diapers all over the side yard, with Ethan and Zach’s little feet right in the middle of them.

I think I screamed, but I can’t be sure. How gross!

The clever little boys explained that they wanted to attract all of the flies that we complained about, and kill them for us.

It worked. But, not without a huge mess.

Huggies Every Little Bottom Campaign

Some mothers can’t afford diapers for their babies, and have to chose between cleaning out and reusing soiled diapers and going without other necessities like food in order to purchase diapers. Diaper banks help collect and distribute diapers to families in need, but there are simply not enough diaper banks in the US to fill the need.

Huggies’ Every Little Bottom Campaign is supporting diaper banks across the US. So far, 22.5 million diapers have been donated, but that is just the beginning. You can find out more about the Every Little Bottom campaign and how you can help on Huggies’ website.

The fab ladies at 5 Minutes for Mom are hosting a Diaper Disaster giveaway, to highlight the Huggies Every Little Bottom campaign.

How can you help?

ok wow. That’s all kinds of wrong LOL!! How sweet of them to try and kill the flies for you!

That is so cool of Huggies to give to diaper banks like that. When I was younger we were recipients of kindness like this.

We all have our poopy diaper stories don’t we? We had an incident when Anna was little where we heard a bunch of the neighborhood kids giggling and laughing in our front yard. We went out to look and she had ripped her poopy diaper off and threw it into the road. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we hadn’t had foreign missionaries sitting at our dinner table at the same time. OH the things kids do.

OMG! How stinkin’ cute! Aren’t children just wonderful! I have a million poopy diaper stories myself! I was sent here by a guest blogger of mine – I’m almost caught up to you, with my 7th due in September. :)

Truth be told, at the time, the poopy messes are soooo not funny at the time, but what would we do without all the poop?

Great to “meet” you! Come by Mommy Rantings sometime!

Kids wouldn’t be kids if they didn’t do things like this, I hope you grabbed a photo. I find though that my boys who are 5 and 7 do silly things if they are together but seem to keep out of mischief if they are on their own.

Actually you have to give those two a lot of credit, setting up a clever little fly trap like that.

This is really funny! And… disgusting. Well, only a bit. You should be proud your twins thought of getting rid of such a problem. Who would have known they’d be so caring? Question though, did it work? Where did all the flies go?
