Super Healthy Kids

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat,” right? Truth is, one of the most important keys to staying healthy is to eat healthy. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated… Providing our children with healthy snacks and well-balanced meals is a good start. How proud I am when my kiddos choose carrot sticks, for an afternoon snack, over a baggie full of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

PhotobucketDid you know that by 10 years old, kids will have formed dietary habits that they will most likely stick with throughout their lives. Teaching our kids to eat healthy is super important. Using the Healthy Habits Kids Plate, as a tool, has been so very helpful in forming these good habits now.

This plate, from Super Healthy Kids, is sectioned to show the proper serving size for each of the food groups, and is super cute. My kiddos fight over the plate, because they want to fill it with the “right” foods at every meal!

The Challenge: Make half your child’s plate full of fruits and vegetables for at least one meal a day! 1/4 of your child’s plate filled with protein, and 1/4 of the plate with grains. Kids will begin to learn how tasty healthy eating can be.

Doesn’t this look like a scrumptious breakfast?
