Portable Parenting - A Giveaway!

Saturday, April 19, 2008

As parents we must be consistent when disciplining our children. It can be difficult though, especially when we are out and about.

PhotobucketA mother of two boys created the Portable Parenting System to help aid in discipline. The Time-Out Mat is a durable rubber mat that can be placed any where you are, without the need for a large stool, or cumbersome blanket. While I do not use time-outs as a consequence for bad behavior, this mat has been helpful for the many parents who seeks to enforce this method of discipline, especially since it can be so easily packed for those trips away from home, whether it be to the store, the pool, or even vacation.

PhotobucketPortable Parenting also offers a unique way to reward good behavior, with their Star Stash Reward System. These special stars can be earned any number of ways, including completing chores without being asked, helping their siblings, and unusually good behavior. The idea is that then these stars can be traded for a specific treat. Good behavior doesn't only happen at home, so this portable system makes it easy to reward your kiddos wherever you are.

You can enter to win the entire Portable Parenting system!

Here's what you have to do to enter:
Check out the system at PortableParenting. com, and come back and leave a comment here, by midnight April 28th, telling me why you would like to try this system. A winner will be chosen, at random, notified, and announced here on Tuesday, April 29th. (Please make sure you leave me an email address or blog address, otherwise your entry will be deleted!)

And, if you would like an extra entry, you can spread the word by linking to this giveaway and to Portable Parenting. Make sure you sign the Mr. Linky (only if you decide to help spread the word) with the exact link to your post to receive the second entry.

Good luck!

This giveaway is now closed!

Congratulations to ihchicky who said…"I would like to try this system because I know for a fact that rewards definitly encourage good behavior. I try to use stickers but it isn't all that effective once I stick them onto the paper we have on the fridge. I'd like to try this out instead."

This system would be such a blessing to our family. Because my husband works a lot, I do most of the disciplining and it is hard. Sometimes the punishment is not equal to the bad behavior. Other times the method I use does not work at all. Plus the reward system sounds fun and easy. It also seems as if it would work for all ages and that is really good. I have four kids; ages 5,8,9, and 14. It would be great to have some type of system to work with because I am all out of ideas.

I'd love to try this system out, lately we need to try new things, because the old things aren't working anymore. I like the fact that its portable too, which means taking it to grandma's house wouldn't be a problem.

I have 2-year-old twins. I think that's reason enough to need as much help as I can get with out-and-about discipline!

My parents used timeouts, and the 'collect a reward' style of parenting with me. I think this set will be a nice way to freshen it up.

We are in the terrible 3's and we do SOOOO many time outs each day. I had to put him in a random corner in the Japanese Habachi Grill restaurant and then I had to kind of stand guard. I would much rather have a true SYSTEM like this!
It looks awesome. I'm especially excited about the star rewards.

My little boy Eli has just hit his terrific two's. (smile) He is testing everything he can! His favorite word is "no". It's been hard to give him time outs because the places I give him the time out become a "negative place", for other times. Example: I used to give him a time out in his room on his bed. Now he won't play in his room because it's associated with the "time out" place.
I would love to try out the Portable Parenting Package. Seems like it can be a good thing! Love the idea of consistancy and also the disciple aspect would be placed on the mat and not something or some where in the house!!!

Hey, what a great idea! I have 3 kids, and my middle one is the head strong one. We find time outs are most effective with her, and having this be portable is great for when we're at grandmas, or visiting friends. Great idea! :)

    April 28, 2008 11:13 AM

I would love to have this system. My daughter is 2 and definitely going through the "terrible" stage. We are having a hard time being consistent with discipling her because we are not always somewhere that a time out works well and because she has decided that timeout really isn't that bad of a deal. She has said to me before, "I'll just go sit on the stairs," which is her time out spot. Hopefully this system would give us the consistency we are looking for and the ability to seriously distinguish between positive reinforcement and time outs!

This system looks really neat. My husband and I are woorking really hard to be "on the same page" when it comes to correcting bad behavior. I think this could actually work and the best part is that I could even send it to the babysitters, so we can ALL be "on the same page". Hope I win! Thanks for the contest!
