Vicks Cares - A Giveaway!!

Monday, January 14, 2008

I have always liked to be cuddled and comforted when I am sick... Who doesn't? My husband is good about giving me the care and attention that I need. As my head is in this cloud of stuffiness, he has helped me through with the generous doling out of backrubs, and insisting that I rest.

Let me tell ya, it certainly is no fun when the kiddos are sick! I have tried to be comforting to them, all FIVE of them (Julia managed to escape this bug), and I think they are finally starting to feel better. I did learn a helpful tip this week: To stop nighttime coughing in a child, you can put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of their feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Believe it or not, it works!

Who was there for you when you really needed comforting? Whether you were sick, feeling down, or just needed a hug, Vicks wants to hear your tribute to the person who cared for and comforted you.

Go to Vicks Caring Tribute to enter a video into the contest for the chance to win some amazing prize packages. You can also send a thank you card to that special person who was there for you.

When Sarah was 3 months old I got very sick. I had a massive upper respiratory infection, I could not get out of bed. I was nursing Sarah at the time and Hubby & MIL helped me so much, they would bring her to me and put ehr to bed, and they took care of Samantha the whole time. I was sick for over a week and finally went to the ER and was put on an antibiotic and after about three days I was feeling better. but my MIL and Hubby were amazing. They did so much to help me while I was sick.

When I first got out of school, I had no money and didn't know too many people in the town I moved to. A friend of a friend who had just recently broken up with his longtime girlfriend would make dinner for me almost every night! He figured he was used to cooking for two and could use the company. He was a writer and a great guy, with lots of stories. Everyone always assumed there must be some kind of romantic angle, but, no, he was just a great guy!

My friend Kari is the only one who I can be completely myself with. Her family has loaned us cars and giving us food when we've had nothing. Being a mission pastor's wife, it narrows your field of people you can confide in and count on. She is my best friend.

My mom was a lifesaver after my first baby was born. She took A LOT of time off work to help me adjust to being a mom. I know that I can always count on her.

My DH is amazing- I was laid off 111 months ago and have not had luck finding another position- I work parttime to help bring in income. He however works seven days a week- he has two jobs and still helps around the house!

My Mother in Law is truely special. She is always willing to come help us whenever we need her. When our son was born, she was down to help for a week. She even made a 1:30 AM run to Wal-mart (for us) to get a breast pump. She came down for a week when our daughter was born, too. She is just so thoughtful and helpful. She is a great motivator, too.

Whenever she is at our house, she is always helping with cleaning up, diaper duty...and watching the kids. She has even taken the kids home with her for up to a week at a time.

I love her so much...for many reasons.

This is a great contest, Christine! Thanks for the post and the giveaway!

My dear college roommate. She took care of me when I came back from Thanksgiving super sick. And then after my baby was born and was so colicky I wasn't getting any sleep she came for a weekend and just walked and rocked and talked him to sleep telling him all about the rocket fuel she was making at work (yup, she's a rocket scientist!) and it was wonderful to have a friend help me out like that.

My mother went to great lenghts to take care of me when I was on bedrest due to premature labor during my first pregnancy. I was a soon to be single mom at the time and was not able to work because of having to be on bedrest. Not only did she help me financially but stayed by my side as much as she could keeping me company and helping pass long, lonely hours. When I went in for my weekly Dr's visit at 30 weeks and they discovered I was in active labor and dialated to 3cm she stayed with me and cared for me the whole time. I spent a week in the hospital before giving birth to my daughter prematurely and she was there for my in every way. She held my hand and comforted me as I gave birth and cried along with me as I touched my daughter for the first time as she laid attacted to a ventilator. I can never think my mother enough for caring for me and keeping me strong. Now I am married and a mom of three and I hope I am half a great a mother as she was to me!

My husband is the ultimate comforter. I have had a nasty cold for about a week now and he has been a huge help with dinner, cleaning up messes, taking care of our son and at the end of the day gives me a back rub and rubs some Vick on my feet (that really does work)! Thank you for this giveaway and reminder to tell him how much I truely appreciate him! Sara (marriedrosesatyahoocom)

The first time my husband saw me sick, we had only been dating a few weeks. He brought me a care package of magazines, ice-cream, soup and toys for my cat. To this day, 5 years later, he is still taking care of me!
